Could a Vaccine Be Required Before Taking a Cruise?
Cruise Hive ^ | December 13, 2020 | Robert McGillivray

Have you thought about getting your vaccine passport in order? Because it could very well be a requirement from the cruise lines that you must be immune to COVD-19 before sailing.

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings CEO Frank Del Rio said the company already has its lawyers looking at the legal side of requiring guests to show they have been vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine.

Cruise Industry Will Have To Build Confidence First Before we see any significant changes in how the cruise industry can operate, they will need to show that cruising can be done safely.

This confidence will need to be instilled in the guests that the cruise lines hope to welcome on board, especially the various government agencies worldwide. Few countries will want to allow cruise ships into their coastal waters unless they are confident in the safety measures implemented.

The vaccine will be a hugely important step for cruise lines, but also the airline industry, and the entire hospitality industry, according to NCLH CEO Frank Del Rio who spoke to Travel Leaders Group during a Zoom call:

“There is talk beginning to emerge from different corners of the travel industry, the airlines as well, of requiring some kind of immunity passport demonstrating that you’ve had the virus or been vaccinated so that you are good to go.”

According to Del Rio, the cruise company will require crew members to be vaccinated no matter what:

“It will certainly be a requirement for the crew, but it’s too early to tell whether we have the legal standing to mandate that you take a vaccine to come onboard — lawyers are looking at it as we speak. We have to build confidence in our customers and among ourselves that it’s safe to cruise.”

Cruise Lines Mandate For Vaccine Not Alone It could very well be that a mandate from Cruise Lines to travel with this ‘immunity passport’ will not stand alone and be a requirement for international travel.

Those wishing to take a cruise abroad and thus fly internationally will need to be vaccinated. This was said last week by Qantas President and Ceo Alan Joyce: “I think that’s going to be a common thing talking to my colleagues in other airlines around the globe.”

The fear is from others in the aviation and cruise industry that a blanket vaccination rule from authorities would do the same to travel as lockdowns, creating more hardship for already struggling industries.

Debts Are Building The most crucial factor is the following: Does the cruise industry have time to wait until 70-80% of the world population is vaccinated. At this time, projections seem to suggest that this would not be the case until July or August at the earliest.

With an industry hemorrhaging money, it would be unlikely many cruise lines will be able to sit still for another 8-9 months without building up huge debts. There is a good chance the cruise industry will not restart in the US due to the issues with the CDC’s framework but would do so in Europe, as Frank Del Rio made clear this week:

“We hope that the pandemic will ease and we can work out our differences with the CDC to start in mid to late March, it’s a long shot, but I want to keep that possibility as long as I see a possibility.

“I think there is a good chance that Europe will be open to cruising in the April to May time frame.”

Vaccine Will Be Paramount For Cruising Whether an immunity passport is implemented, it seems inevitable that there will be a considerable amount of debate on the issue in the upcoming months.

As more and more data becomes available on the vaccine programs, we will hopefully see growing confidence in the vaccine and, consequently, the cruise industry.

Whether you like it or not, the vaccine is and will be a hugely important factor in a successful resumption of cruising worldwide. Whether we will see a full resumption in 2021 is up to the air at the moment, yet we remain hopeful.

At the height of the Coronavirus pandemic, two cruise ships in the Atlantic were affected. Almost everyone in the ships were exposed. A perfect microcosm. Results, only a couple 80 and 90 year olds died.

That is when I knew this entire Great Reset was a stratagem, not a pandemic

You grew up in a different time. Things have changed since I and others were in the military. We are now under the thumb of leftist Satan worshippers who are hell bent on Population Reduction. Vaccines are their Mode of Operation. The fact that you know none of this shows your willing ignorance. Chances are, based on your age, that you will be culled by these next line of “experimental” vaccines

"Lighten up Frances. COVID vaccine requirements are no different than TB and other inoculations required to go to many 3rd world countries. If you do not want to do it just don’t go on cruises."

You you believe the "papers please" will stop with the virus inoculation just for cruises you are either a fool, ignorant, or both. Soon, without papers, it will apply to air travel, hotels, food stores, and everything else. I don't do cruises but I do buy most of my food.

Already debate here about what sort of mandatory ID will be required to show people have taken the vaccine.

See...you are just daft. Do you not believe Gates was part of Epstein’s cult island? Do you not believe Gates has a controlling interest in Pfizer and Moderna? And that Gates’ primarily. You are too stupid to be conservative. Go kiss Rachel Maddow...

“With an industry hemorrhaging money, it would be unlikely many cruise lines will be able to sit still for another 8-9 months without building up huge debts.”
BUT... by all means, cruise lines should alienate the very people that are able to pull them out of their downward spiral...their customers.

The 3 largest Cruise lines, CARNIVAL- ROYAL, AND NORWEGIAN got caught in a situation common in baseball, taking a long lead off first base, and getting picked off.

When Covid first hit,was in hindsight the time to reorganize, cut back on personnel, and ships, and prepare for a diminished future in cruising, thus preserving the Billions made, and borrowed.
But it looked like Cruises were goin to restart soon and you would fall behind the other LINES who stuck it out.

They stuck it out because of the hopes of : a next month restart-in a few months we will restart- all kinds of people wanting to go on cruises now, etc.
All wishful thinking, as they never expected a year long shutdown where they spent their Billions and , the borrowed money they were given under the premise of an any month now a restart will happen.

This basic cruise line shutdown is now approaching a year and if the CDC and other health organizations get involved it will stumble along in 2021 and should cause some reorganizations,( bankruptcies) as has happened to some of the other Cruise lines.

Don't forget creditors are involved in this also, and the loaners don't want to loose their money , and IMHO the possibility of a vaccine being required to cruise will not help, only slow down the recovery of loaned money. And there is no guarantee it will all be paid back with interest in full.

So , besides having the Press, left wing politicians, the CDC, and other countries health Orgs.. to deal with, the Cruise Lines may start having a Creditor problem, with more delays in the offing if vaccines are required to go on a cruise.- Tom

See conspiracy nonsense. And it doesn’t even make sense. Really, use your freaking head. If covid was a population control effort why bother to vaccine? If the vaccine is the population tool why stick it in there and not one of the non-controversial vaccines like the MMR, tetanus or the annual flu shotl? Like always conspiracy nonsense is over complicated, and believed by abject morons. Now really, go away, you’re a stupid pathetic useless waste of flesh. Go learn to read you idiot.

Theatrics. A negative covid test is meaningless in the real world. You could take the test and potentially 5 minutes later be exposed to the virus. You could be infected even before getting the test results back that indicate you are negative.

LOL! You know nothing. They may be using current vaccines. Millions of women in Africa and India have been sterilized. In the US, it is hard to hide new ingredients to an already standard vaccine. Plus, a sizable number of conservative families have religious exemptions. Why use new vaccines? They can claim it was an unintended consequence of “saving humanity” from this fake plague.

Thick headed, daft people like yourself are why we are in this mess of a nation. Any questioning of big government big pharma, you call conspiracy. Our forefathers would be ashamed of you.

It is a conspiracy. You even ran to the classic “all in one conspiracy” by bringing Epstein into it. Face it, you are the classic textbook conspiracy believing moron Heck you’re so textbook you might actually be a bot.

The thing about transgender sissies like you is that I would feel guilty wiping the floor with you. That is why I go out of my way to educate you on fact. Heck, you probably started crying when I criticized your hero, Bill Gates. You can bill me for new shorts if I caused you to piss yourself. I’ll send you my billing address homo.

But if the vaccine will help expedite the return of Jesus Christ, isn’t that a good thing ?

“>>There are many of us who will not cruise if masks, social distancing, etc., are prerequisites. Vaccination appears to be the only alternative to those protocols.<<
Ironically, if this goes into effect cruises will be the only place where you can safely go to a buffet, shake someone’s hand, hug a new friend and do all the other personal human interactions we took for granted pre-2020.
I say ironically b/c we all remember cruises were the scariest places to be when the COVID hit.”

I plan on getting the vaccine and going on a cruise. Poster freedumb has hit on something, cruises could go from the worst place to be to the safest.

Since the Cruise lines have so many enemies, like politicians ,medical officials, and the press, remember vaccines are only 90-95% effective.

That means statistically that hundreds of vaccinated cruisers are not protected on a big cruise ship, and if covid strikes ,we know what the overreactions will be.-Tom
