A BRITISH ex-public schoolboy has been stripped and flogged 24 times in a Singapore jail for drugs offences.

London-born Ye Ming Yuen, 31, was strapped to a large wooden bench before being brutally beaten.

He was punished in the 'caning room' in Changi Prison where he is currently serving 20 years for his crimes.

The former Westminster School pupil's caning came after he had his second appeal rejected by the Singaporean courts.

What’s with the “ex-school boy” references? The guy is 31.

When you leave the friendly shores of the USA you have to leave your rights at the border.

I went to the UK two years ago. Even over there, I kept reminding our party we weren't in the US and had to follow the laws of the UK.

I support death penalty for really bad stuff and corporal punishment for other stuff.

I am pro-life. Only God should decide who lives and dies. I am fine with 100 years of hard labor without parole, but capital punishment is God's job, not ours.

Singapore used to hang people for drugs. This guy should consider himself fortunate.

Went there twice in the late 80s, when I was in the Navy. All of us were forewarned: if you come back from liberty and your piss test comes back positive for drugs, you already know how you're going to be punished for that. But it will be nothing compared to what Singapore will do if their police catch you with drugs.

It's not like Singapore keeps their drug laws and punishments a secret.

Roll the dice, pay the price.

Why does the article emphasize that he was a former schoolboy when he’s 31 years old?

Bleeding heart journalism.

We’re ALL former school boys or girls.

Has it worked?

A slow boat ride in decrepit freighters over there.

I first traveled to Singapore in 1976. Before landing we got a card that explained the drug policy (death I believe at that time) as well as some other things like acceptable hair length for men (I was sure to get a haircut before departing the US) and chewing gum.

Unlike the USA, Singapore’s justice system does a pretty good job of figuring out who the real bad guys are. Punishments are harsh -but the chances of being falsely convicted are minimal.

A little different than what was planned for Don Johnson in A Boy And Is Dog.

The best part was when the lad’s parents went on TV to protest his ‘brutal’ punishment, a majority of Americans said they approved and thought we ought to do the same thing here. He was punished for graffiti, I believe

I thought the best part was when Clinton tried to get the sentence of six strokes commuted, and asked them very nicely if they would reconsider. They said “You know what, just for you, we’ll reduce it to four.”

“He should consider himself lucky.Usually, drug dealers in Singapore die dancing at the end of a rope.”

He was below the death penalty limits.
