Just curious, many times at our local post office, I have noticed a huge line waiting and many workers notice it and just keep walking. Do you think they ‘slow-walk’ the work? I know that money spent in wages is astronomical. What is the real problem? Is there any incentive to actually get all the work done in the scheduled hours/per/day?

I live in Rome, New York. We have three clerks, but not all of them are open all the time. They close down for lunch, or if they are working on something else. The lines have been too long to stand and wait for a clerk, so I’ve been using the kiosk in the lobby, so I don’t wear a mask. This past Tuesday when I went in to use the machine, the line was way out into the lobby. The lines are usually long there to begin with so it always looks like its Christmas, with people mailing out last-minute packages.

Huge line at a local post office on a Saturday many years ago. Two workers. About 15 people in line.

One walked off for her break. I mean, I know you gotta take it at some point. Maybe a third person called in that day.
