During the early 1970s, the United States was suffering through a period of social and political unrest that had not been seen since the Civil War. Racial conflict combined with protests over the war in Vietnam saw large demonstrations and riots throughout the country. In some cases, such as the Kent State shooting, the protests turned deadly.
Richard Nixon was president at the time and was the focus for much of the anger. He was despised by The Washington Post, The New York Times and Hollywood establishment; and conventional wisdom had it that the 1972 election would see an irrevocable shift to the left. Vice President Spiro Agnew disagreed. He believed that there was a silent majority of American voters who would put a halt to the leftward drift of the country. Agnew was proven correct when Nixon won in a landslide in the 72 election. Today, the building blocks of a new silent majority are beginning to fall into place.
In the wake of recriminations over both COVID-19 and the George Floyd killings, conventional wisdom again has it that the country is trending left with the usual suspects in the elite establishment on the East and West Coasts predicting the end of Donald Trump. Hard core Trump supporters dont care about the opinion of the opinion makers, but they wont be the only Trump voters in November. In 2016, people who would not admit to being Trump backers or Hillary haters were enough to give the Republicans the edge in crucial swing states. At that time, they were not a majority; they may be this time.
Media and Hollywood elites are sending a not-so-subtle message that a vote for Mr. Trump is a vote for evil, but many people in this country have a far different definition of evil.

Look for a surprise win by Trump.
You never know. The country is different now.
I would like to think so, but with potential mail in voting, harvesting, and other schemes, especially electronic voting as well, it will be hard to have a fair and free election. It could very well be stolen, no way to prove it for undo it.
Nobody likes to be looted.
Nobody.
Right this is an interesting thought. I wonder if there’s a large number of democrats out there that bought into the leftist ideas. But they’re definitely not on board with the craziness their leadership has sold into to enable it. They’re not blind, they know that the cities that are on fire are burning because democrats are running them. They’re not stupid, they know that Trump didnt take the bait. They know as well as anyone else that the constitution restricts the president to protecting federal buildings. But they’ve got ego involved and they’ll never admit that they’re wrong in public. They’ll deny it till they die... and then pull the handle for trump.
At least i hope that’s the case.
Need to stop all of that in battleground states. California? Who cares. 55 electoral votes for the Democrat even if the popular vote showed 100 million vote lead in the state.
In 2016, Michael Moore said, Trump’s election will be “the “biggest f**k you” in human history”.

I believe that this Nov., the silent majority will provide an even bigger “f**k you” than in 2016
I get the sense that common sense thinking Americans now see the Democrats going off the political deep end. Their insistence to defund and attack police from coast to coast was a major political blunder by the RATS. We know there will be massive vote fraud this November, but I’m starting to like Trump’s chances to be re-elected! The RATS overreached and went too far with the racial warfare!
So funny. The left, as always, think it is already over. Even the usual pundits think it is over. Covid happened while Trump was President, therefore he did it. Riots happened when he was President, therefore he did it.
Ignore the Dems support for China, who truly caused Covid. Ignore the impeachment. Ignore the Dems being behind the riots.
Trump exists, therefore he is at fault.
I know many conservative pundits believe that misery is automatically imputed to Trump. Who knows, maybe they are correct.
But Lord help us if they are. What they are saying is horrifying. They are saying the the Dems can show up at your door with a hammer, beat you, and on the way out say dont forget to blame Trump. And the voters will.
If that is the case, we are truly lost as a people.
I would hope so! Who the hell wants these criminals in their neighborhood?
Even the hard leftist with kids and possibly jobs would want some protection!
That’s how he was elected the first time.
I think the pro riot voters may be 15%.
The RNC has A CRAZY AMOUNT of material that unequivocally shows the democrat party as the bat-crazy evil party it is. Also, the President has a humungous war-chest.
If the RNC is so feckless that they can't beat Biden and every other democrat with all the material and money at their disposal - then they deserve to lose elections.
p
(this is a ‘duh’.)
I still say Trump win it because I do sense a new “silent majority” out there that have had enough of the problems of the last couple of months. The Dems will try to steal the election, that is why there will be efforts to keep a closer eye by anti-vote fraud folks .
A Trump loss would mean it’s time to hunker down into survival mode.
It would be very instructive to learn the percentage of those polled that were in the categories “refused to answer” an “hung up on us” and “I know they were there, but wouldn’t pick up the phone”. I suspect that category consists almost exclusively of Trump voters.
Nixon won 49 states in ‘72. McGovern won Massachusetts and DC. He couldn’t even win South Dakota, his home state. If you want to measure how left this nation has turned in the last 48-50 years all you need to do is look at this year’s electoral college results.
Great point. Black groups have taken a similar stance. It's not just 'equality before the law' - it's 'in your face or else' crap. John Baer might be right... hasn't considered the 'let's be fair' group. This might be an easier win than we thought...
