Agreed! I own five 1911s (four Sigs and a Springfield RO) and a Sig 220 SAS, the latter of which is my absolute favorite and my Winter carry gun. (I carried one on active duty.)
Allow me to share a pretty cool “war story”... Two of my recent students were a 40-something woman and her 16 year-old daughter, neither of whom had ever shot a handgun. I started them with .22s (including a revolver), gave them some exposure to .380s and 9mms, then went to one of my 1911s, a Sig Scorpion. (I spared them the .357, .44 and .450 Smith.)
They both got quite proficient at defensive range and mom preferred the 9mm. When I asked the daughter which gun she preferred, she told me, “The .45, it’s badass!” She shot it quite well and wasn’t the least bit bothered by the recoil and report. I even let her “run” a couple of mags through it, which she thought was the coolest thing ever...
