New police shooting in Michigan teaches leftists some hard lessons

The Police Tribune released a body cam video (warning: explicit violence) of a Michigan deputy emptying her magazine (after clearing a malfunction) into Sean Ernest Ruis shortly after the unarmed suspect stabbed a senior citizen and then came after the deputy with a knife and a screwdriver. The deputy fortunately did not heed Joe Biden's advice to shoot the unarmed man in his leg, as depicted here: "Instead of standing there and teaching a cop, when there's an unarmed person coming at them with a knife or something, you shoot them in the leg instead of in the heart is a very different thing." This is why she did not, as Black Lives Matter puts it, "oink her last" and why her family will not be getting a folded flag.

There are several good lessons from this incident that should go viral well before the November election.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, whose policies may have killed thousands of helpless nursing home patients, said, "No one needs 10 bullets to kill a deer and too many innocent people have died already." The bodycam video shows that the deputy emptied her entire magazine, which apparently held 15 or more rounds (that's five more than Cuomo said she needed), before the unarmed assailant was no longer capable of sticking his knife or something, in this case a screwdriver, into her. This proves Cuomo dishonest or incompetent with regard to the realities of armed self-defense, and probably both. Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden said, "We protect geese more than we protect — no joke: you can only have three shotgun shells when you go shooting for geese."

“She’s either a bad shot or the perp was almost immune to bullets.”

9mm. Lots of rounds, little impact. Not a fan.

“when there’s an unarmed person coming at them with a knife or something”....

I just keep reading that over and over again.
“Unarmed”, I don’t think it means what they think it means.

The "unarmed" had a link to this

"Instead of standing there and teaching a cop, when there's an unarmed person coming at them with a knife or something, you shoot them in the leg instead of in the heart is a very different thing. There's a lot of different things that could change," Biden said in a meeting with community leaders at Bethel AME Church in Wilmington, Del.

It's called irony (or sarcasm, I confuse the two), but without the link and Biden quote it went from witty to stupid.

I’m pretty sure the author was using a generic Cuomo 10 round magazine anti-gun quote in contrast to this situation where 15 rounds were needed to stop the perp. He similarly uses a Biden quote that we know is not in response to this situation.

I agree. She probably missed him a few times, but he acted as if he wasn’t even hit. She did a great job clearing the gun and re-engaging, which tells me she’s had plenty of training.

I’ve trained quite a few people in handguns and close-quarter combat and, as I tell them - particularly women, if you have to actually discharge your gun in the protection of your life, empty the magazine; “dead” men have killed quite a few people. Unfortunately, a lot of police departments don’t allow officers to use ammo with Hydra-shock, Gold Dot, Critical Defense and other ammo that does significant damage.

But, but, but...why didn't she just shoot the knife out of his hand?

“...unarmed person with a knife or a screwdriver...”

That was a tongue-in-cheek reference to a previous Joe Biden speech...

“”Instead of standing there and teaching a cop, when there’s an unarmed person coming at them with a knife or something, you shoot them in the leg instead of in the heart is a very different thing. There’s a lot of different things that could change,” Biden said in a meeting with community leaders at Bethel AME Church in Wilmington, Del.”

Very, very lucky cop...She must have gotten a shot into his right, knife wielding arm just as he was pushing the barrel of her weapon towards the ground...He was pushing her weapon down and positioning his arm to stab her...

He hesitated apparently from the realization of the shot...She backed up and cleared her jammed gun...He dropped the knife and she finished him off...

That was a very close call...

I'll bet she is spending far more time at the range and evaluating whether she needs a larger caliber...

There is a long, long history of people going BERSERK, and it does not need drugs. Famous in Viking lore, berserkers led charges and fought through mortal wounds to get to the enemy. Other times & other names but the same abilities. 9mm is too light a round in these cases, but a good one for about 95% of the time when one can aim! Your choice! Glad her colleagues are not hearing bagpipes!

Hah! See, I chose to read the article...even followed the "unarmed" link in the article. Of course, I should've read all the comments here before posting because you had it covered. (I used "tongue-in-cheek" to describe the authors Biden reference.) See comment #48.

😁👍

"unarmed" - Definitely armed with knife and screwdriver.

"bodycam" - Video appeared to be from home security camera, unless I missed the true bodycam video link

All in all though, a good outcome

How can a man with a knife be “unarmed”?

This line is a tongue-in-cheek slap at Joey Fingers' advice on how to handle an "unarmed assailant with a knife."

Sobering to see him be able to keep going for several seconds after taking 4-5 shots to the chest. He could have inflicted a fatal wound on her in that time.

Another article states the now dead perp stabbed a 72 year old guy for not wearing a mask in a store.

The perp stabbed the 72-year-old man because the perp was not wearing a mask and the 72-year-old man told the perp he needed to wear one.

Slow the video, looks like her first several shots were likely misses. The pistol doesn’t look aligned towards the bad guy to me. Looks like she missed off to the left a few times.
