The July 3 debut on Disney+ of the musical, written, composed by and starring Lin-Manuel Miranda, is set in the late 1700s and tells the story of one of America’s Founding Fathers, Alexander Hamilton, at a time when the new nation was wrought with slavery, social inequity and civil unrest. Celebrities from across industries weighed in with their thoughts on Friday and Saturday, from “Frozen” actor Josh Gad calling the show “magical” and “pure genius,” to author Rozanne Gay saying it “dangerously elides they [sic] realities of slavery.”

So Manual needed to have Alexander Hamilton own slaves in his musical despite the fact Hamilton was an abolitionist.
The “realities” of slavery encompass world history from the dawn of time. These fools seem to think that Americans invented the institution.
One of the “realities” of slavery is that 720,000 Americans (the total has been upped recently) died fighting during the Civil War with slavery the red-hot issue of that time.
That is 720,000 white people, that had a population of 3 million slaves.
The 720,000 does not factor in the tens of thousands of Southern civilians that died during the war.
Why they have a Negro portraying this famous Caucasian Founding Father is still not quite clear except to defame the man.
There’s nothing about either the film nor stage play that I want to see even for a moment.
It needs to be shutdown as it is not ‘woke’ : )

Same here especially since they tried to put the Vice Prez on the spot when he went to see the play a few years ago.
What would happen if a bunch of white people played all the roles in Hamilton? Would they be accused of “Whitewashing” the roles, even though all the founding fathers were white? Or of cultural appropriation?
Liberal heads would explode if that ever happened.

One of the things about the trans atlantic slave trade is that there are excellent records, as it was all written down via ship manifest.
I have done a bit of study on the topic over the course of a few years.
The number of Africans taken from Africa via the trans atlantic slave trade ranges in estimates from 10.8 million people to 12.0 million people.
The vast majority of those people ended up in Brazil or the Carribean.
Less then 4% of the slaves in the trans-atlantic slave trade ended up in America. The number is somewhere between about 300,000 and 400,000.
There were about 300,000 irish taken as slaves around 1650, but not all of them arrived into America.
The Irish “indentured servents” were different then the slaves: they could work and eventually be freed. But since they were not property they were often not treated as well as slaves were with housing, food, and medical attention when needed.
It infuriates me to see people trying to make history into something that it wasn’t. EVERYONE had it rough “back in the day.”
So no White actor can play a POC, or do voice work for a POC character.
But Hamilton can be stuffed with POCs who had essentially little to nothing to do with the story portrayed.

Usually listen to Pandora as I’m doing inside paint work. Lately, Hamilton is regularly being advertised. Any chance of me signing up for the Disney channel to watch it was completely smashed when I heard semi-rap music in the background of the commercial.

I’m awaiting the remake of Alex Haley’s “Roots” with an all White cast.
I think he was biracial. One of his parents was from West Indies. Anyway, I’m looking forward to seeing the white version of Obama. I wonder how magical the actors will think it is.

I never understood the liberal praise of “Hamilton” having an all minority cast.
Can you imagine the reaction to a production about Martin Luther King, Booker T. Washington, George Washington Carver, Fredrick Douglass, et. al. with parts being played by white actors????? We all know what the reaction would be.
Yet somehow this “Hamilton” play is praised and lauded by the liberals for some inspirational visionary casting.
The bigger problem they have here is that Hamilton was white as were most of the characters portrayed by blacks Just last week the edict was that roles or voiceovers portraying blacks could only be done by blacks. Blacks portraying whites? Shut it down.
Hamilton was born in the West Indies... the Island of Nevis I believe. I’m sure that there were a lot of rumors about his parentage.
