A new poll released Friday showed that 55% of Democrats approve of calls by the Black Lives Matter movement to “defund the police” — though 64% of the country as a whole opposes the idea.

ABC News reported:

Strong majorities of Americans oppose the movement to “defund the police” and some of its most significant goals, specifically reshuffling funding away from law enforcement to support mental health, housing and education programs, a new ABC News/Ipsos poll released Friday finds.

Nearly two-thirds of Americans oppose calls for defunding police departments, compared to 34% who back the movement, and 60% specifically oppose reducing the budget for police to reallocate it to other public health and social programs, while 39% support that move.

ABC/Ipsos have been some of the most slanted of all polls, and that’s saying a lot.

LOL!

Biden already said he is against it.

Now ABC runs with this? And dont think trying to dress it up as something other than what the phrase says is going work either.

I guess that makes 64% of American racist.

If my local city decides to defund they should get no federal dollars that is intended for local law enforcement.

I wonder how much federal money flows to local police departments.

“ABC/Ipsos have been some of the most slanted of all polls, and that’s saying a lot.”

Indeed.......In reality probably around 18% would actually support it, 80% would oppose and as always we have the 2 or so % that “don’t know”.

Of course, they do. I’m betting that the approval rate among dems is even higher, they just don’t want to admit to it because they know sane people think it is a really really bad idea.

If people were into disciplining themselves, we wouldn’t need as many police as we have. Failure to self regulate results in a loss of freedom for all.

I like the split: Democrats on one side, Americans on the other!

They really couldn’t have picked a worse way to brand this. Some of the underlying ideas (like having other people besides law enforcement deal with people having a mental health crisis or with the homeless or other situations where a specialist with more specific training can step in) aren’t bad, depending on the details of what actually gets implemented. Every LEO I know doesn’t want to have to deal with those situations anyway. Particularly in the case of people having mental health issues, there’s usually minimal training in how to handle that anyway. They’d happily hand that workload off to other people specially trained for it.

If the people pushing for this stuff had worked with LEO organizations like the FOP, they might have actually had a set of proposals with broad support, including from the law enforcement community. Instead it’s typical “us vs them” tribalism, and since most people understand the concept of the thin blue line, they’re going to side with police. Short-sighted foolishness and a wasted opportunity for change that could have benefited everyone.

According to an ABC News/Ipsos poll, 92% of Americans do not want another Hiroshima. Only 83% said they do not want another Nagasaki. When asked what day of the week it was, 6% replied “purple”, and a tourist from the UK said “I have eels in my hovercraft”.

Don’t underestimate how far left the Democratic Party is now. In wait suburbanites and the soccer moms get pool great long with it because they wanna be liked on social media, they are the virtue signaling signaling middle agers.

Geez Louise, batman, who ever thought we’d reach a point in America that 1/3rd want to get rid of the police.

But I can see why Biden and gang are running away - fast- from the defunding idea.

So 36% of Americans support abolishing the police? It’s either a lie or we’ve become a nation of idiots. Or, one possible explanation for these numbers is that many people have never had any direct contact with the police, so they think that police are irrelevant to their lives and can be safely eliminated. These would be people - mostly white - living in affluent, crime-free areas.

Don’t buy this poll. It is probably around 20%. Crazy enough that might include some libertarians in that mix.

The solution, of course, is to elect a pro-2nd amendment, constitutional sheriff in your county. This sheriff has the legal and armed muscle to protect your family and your community.

So if the nutty liberal mayor of a city sends his BLM goons out to harass citizens, the racists will be met by the sheriff’s heavily armed SWAT team. And his 1,000 man auxiliary deputies who are on standby duty for “emergencies.”

People familiar with our founding know that the above strategy is part of the Founder’s Committees of Safety.
