For those who may have forgotten, the infamous “Oxford study” said 250 deaths a day would be the peak in the UK.

Coronavirus: Hong Kong records 51 new cases, bringing the citys tally to 765 with six-week-old baby as the youngest local patient

A six-week-old boy has become the youngest person to test positive for Covid-19 in Hong Kong, as the local tally of infections hit 765.
Also among the 51 new cases confirmed on Wednesday were a pilot, a flight attendant, a beautician and an immigration officer, according to health officials, as well as a taxi driver, a private chauffeur and a soccer coach.
The latest totally crazy “predictions” we are seeing from Flu Bro types (around here) is that after we hit the peak (of Phase I) there will be a steep (normal shaped) downhill curve of deaths.
This is _never_ correct with an epidemic, even less so with the amount of leakage in the system (folks out doing essential errands, folks just being jerks, etc.)
Epidemics have steep uphill curves, then very gradual downhill ones...

UK has 1/5 the ventilators per capita of the US, I think I heard in the last Presidential presser? If true, that’s going to make for a very harsh reality...
Is it the same all the time. I thought of it as bell curve.
JAPAN
2178 cases; 57 deaths:
TOKYO: Japan will bar visitors from the United States, China and most of Europe, the prime minister said Wednesday (Apr 1) as the country seeks to stem a recent rise in coronavirus cases.
The entry ban, which will also apply to Australia, Britain, South Korea and many Southeast Asia countries, will take effect on Friday, Shinzo Abe’s government said.

Swiss coronavirus death toll rises to 378, positive tests hit 17,139

ZURICH (Reuters) - The Swiss death toll from the coronavirus has reached 378, the countrys public health ministry said on Wednesday, rising from 373 people a day earlier as Switzerland prepares additional measures to mitigate the epidemics economic hit.
Without a vaccine, the virus does not go away, even with maximum good practices.
That is what we are seeing now in Singapore, South Korea, and Japan....
and in the US folks are _much_ less disciplined and obedient...
Even in studio apts., they can find many places to store food. A 12” cube milk crate holds 36 regular 15 oz cans of corn. Those crates are stackable. Stack in a corner to the ceiling and they can eat for many months = 8 ft ceiling is 288 cans. Two stacked make a stool = 72 cans. 6x2x2 make a coffee table = 432 cans.
Boxed foods can be stored under and behind furniture.
Lightweight items that are packaged in bags can be strung from the ceiling so are out of way.

With the crashing and burning of the Oxford study, I am completely convinced the “Maginot Line” of the flu bros have been breached....
The virus is just getting started....all over the world...
I follow Survival Blog and thought I was prepared for being shut in for a couple of weeks or more. I do have enough food stores for several months but found out how much paper products my family, 3 girls and myself, actually go through and it’s surprising. I’m good for all the other facets of preparation including the hood rats that almost certainly will be leaving the urban setting seeking out the vulnerable to take advantage of.
29k !?
Is that right? How can that be?
To think these cruise ships probably began tours a week or two ago. Insane.
“Lots of Mag 3+ aftershocks to the 6.5 mag in Idaho tonight”.
Had one of my tin foil hat friends say last night that this virus is to lock down everyone because they know the Yellowstone Caldera is going to blow and cause massive worldwide death and prolonged Ice Age. I laughed him off butttt thinking to myself nothing would surprise me anymore.
