A man who tested positive for the coronavirus told Fox News on Saturday that people should stop freaking out about the outbreak.
"I'm not the one to advise the experts on this, but I personally believe that it's not the scary thing that everyone thinks it is," Mark Jorgenson told "Your World."
Jorgenson and his wife were evacuated from the Diamond Princess cruise ship in Japan. Authorities quarantined the ship after a man who exited in Hong Kong had tested positive. According to Jorgenson, his wife initially tested positive and stayed in Japan while he didn't get a positive result until he was back in the United States.
Speaking from his hospital bed in California, Jorgenson said he was fine.
"I'm not symptomatic, my wife tested positive without symptoms and now is clear of it. So I would say maybe we can step back and breathe a little bit and not freak out," he told Fox News host Neil Cavuto.
Jorgenson continued testing positive and needed to obtain two consecutive negative results in order to be released. As he was speaking with Cavuto, he said his wife had just received her second negative result and would be returning home.
Over 700 other passengers and crew who were on the ship were infected with COVID-19, which had for several weeks marked the largest instance of communal spread.
A British man who was sickened by the coronavirus while aboard the cruise ship has died, reports citing the Japanese health ministry said.
The man, who had been in quarantine in Japan after testing positive for the virus, marks the first foreign passenger on the ship to die, according to Kyodo News. It would also mark the first fatality involving a British citizen, according to Sky News.

Probably not
It’s very very odd and like I said it seems, dare I say, orchestrated.
You are putting unuttered words in my mouth and you need to rethink your statements. The fact that coronovirus patients who die die of ARDS rather than the virus itself is an idiotic thing to go around saying. You are still dead, and this kind of talking down to people trying your soothing best bedside manner is quite irritating actually while you gas on for 1/2 hr on a video rather than just getting to a point that you put down in an easily understood paragraph.
There is a lot of BSing on both sides of this rather than just providing straighforward facts where they are known and explaining what is not yet known.
And know I am not fearmongering or trying to talk up a panic. But stop telling everyone - nothing to see here folks. That isn't true either.
So if I were inclined to suppose conspiracy theory, the definition of a biological weapon is multiple epicenters of a rapidly spreading disease disseminated in multiple far-reaching locations. If I were to really put on my tin foil hat, the question I would have would be — is this a fizzled bioweapon?

You can click on individual countries for their stats. Divide deaths by cases and move the decimal place two places to the right to get mortality rate as a percentage. China, Iran and Kuwait are pretty high. The rest not so much. Mostly has to do with national/regional hygiene and medical modernism. In two of those countries, they never touch food with their left hand because they don’t all have toilet paper so that’s what the left hand is reserved for. China poops in holes in the floor in the same place they shower plus it’s an overcrowded country and the commie leaders don’t care about it’s people.
San Francisco and other Cali and big city hellholes are going to see it bad and unfortunately, some of that will spread. Me out here in rural Missouri, we’ll probably never have a case but will suffer the supply chain shortages so I’m slowly sticking up on things. If we need one of something, I’m buying two or three. Not filling my cart with canned goods or water. I need to try and find some dust masks because I use them regularly for hands on stuff. I’ve got a paint mask and don’t do a whole lot of that so it should carry me through the year. Anything Made in China, I’ll be stocking up on like consumable aftermarket auto parts. Tires will take a hit too even though not all are MiC. Many are.
My wife works at an old folks home so I pray it doesn’t hit there. The city Mayor lives there so I told her to keep an eye on him. If they take him out of there suddenly, something’s up. Yes, the Mayor runs the city from an old folks home, LOL.
That's nothing. I once knocked a bear out using some jabs, some fancy footwork, and a sudden right hook. Not scary at all. The bear's coaches threw in the towel in the 7th round like the Deontary Wilders/Fury fight. Our corners were two trees in the woods.
Those were the ones in the last 48 hours.
Here are the ones if you extend it out to 72 hours.
Brazil
Georgia
Greece
North Macedonia
Norway
Pakistan
Romania
That’s 21 out of the 61 nations reporting...
...all having their first report in the last 72 hours.
Actually your statement that it takes a doctor 30 minutes to talk down explaining ARDS. If you actually gave a damn about the truth, you would seek to understand that this is likely a secondary problem to a relatively self limited viral infection. Additionally the incidence of ARDS in viral syndromes is simply not that high and treatable, but critical.
I can actually explain what is happening from a rationale basis. And if you, as previously opined, gave a damn about the truth you would further understand that ARDS secondary to viral respiratory infections exists more than just with CoVId-19.
The straight forward facts are that this is likely a completely overhyped news cycle story with ample fear mongering. As my father used to teach me — rumor and innuendo are half way around the world before truth puts on its shoes. You are promulgating the rumor and innuendo. I have hardly said nothing to see here folks, in fact what I have said is we have seen this many times in the past and know how to deal with it.
Let me grab my tinfoil hat real quick....
The way this is behaving does not ‘appear’ natural from my vantage point. Strangely, Trump’s behavior also ‘appears’ like he knows what is unfolding and how this ends.
Tinfoil hat now removed.
The some 85,997 reported cases in China and the some 2,941 deaths are statistically significant numbers representing most of the cases to date. That works out to over 3%. Now sure, the deaths are probably are more reliable number than the reported cases number which could be a much higher number.
But all of this special pleading is damn bad science.
It’s one of the reasons that I personally think we’ll have a much smaller proportion of severe cases than China has. I’m guessing 10% at most, since we’re operating from a much healthier baseline than the Red Chinese: much less pollution, only about 20% of our adult population smokes, if that, we have mucho vaccinations for other things that could complicate cases, etc.
As for the optimist trolls dismissing everything, OK, dittoheads!
Yes, it does. Now it may be that they just got the test equipment or something else. Perhaps it’s just the WHO reaching out. I don’t know, but it seems like someone is trying to justify their existence, or blow this out into the pandemic qualifier.
Exactly. All this breathless statistics and posturing of knowledge from a perspective of ignorance is getting tiresome.
Sure, it’s a virus but it’s getting blown well out of proportion. The left is searching high and low for something, anything to bring Trump down. Within a couple days of even hearing about this virus in China, POTUS closed the borders to travelers from China.
I watched his well reasoned press conference today with plenty of actual epidemiologists and doctors. These guys were clear that there is no reason to panic. They were also clear that infection numbers will also likely rise. It’s on youtube and worth an hour of your time.
At the end of the day, 22, 100, 1,000 people getting some illness is a statistical anomaly. 300,000,000 people in America. 5500 people die every day in America.
In may case, I’m middle aged, have a bit of asthma and a propensity for common colds to transfer to bronchitis. I travel heavily for work and interact with the public almost daily. Outside of more frequent hand washing, I’m not all that concerned.
It’s very odd for sure.
Why not multiple new hotspots in nations where it already has a bit of a foothold? That seems much, much more likely than single new cases in small, remote countries with no previous infections.
The same thing happened in China. A burst in Wuhan then very little outside of that area.
It isnt being spread the old fashioned way...if indeed it is popping up in various odd spots then it must have been...wait for it...weaponized. The ultimate goal is to eliminate Donald Trump and Capitalism with a crash of the economy.
Jeez! Here we go again with people stating their opinions and using no scientific fact to back up what they are saying. You people that watch Fox or any news will be some of the first to die becsuse you are following someone that is being told to save the stock market.
Use your own critical thinking skills and look around you.
This virus is now spreading in the free world kike it was spreading in China at the start of it all. We were told that they could get it under control, they failed and so will we.
This is now spreading into nursing homes in Washington state. California will take a major hit. 9000+ there on lockdown. Look how long we contiued to allow people to from here from Italy and South Korea that are known hotspots. Why does no kids under a certain age seem to catch it? I cant explain that but dont you find that interesting?
All of us need to stop bickering and pointing fingers and start figuring how to fight this. I am sick of numbers coming from so called experts. THEY ARE IDIOTS MAKING A GUESS!
Stop watching all TV and get your ass to reading how to kill this virus while you still have internet. Start stocking up on meds to fight the flu and buy two of what you think you will need cause most likely most of us are going to catch this. Most of us will survive but some of us wont.
Get ready to hunker down and go nowhere for a while and ride this thing out.
Think about what you are going to do after all this over and you need a car part thats only made in China. How are going to get to work?
Get some games for the kids to play at home that doesnt require a computer. Your electric may go out and it cannot be not fixed for 2 weeks. Teens without facebook after one week will be driving you nuts. Some of you will open the front and shove them outside into the world of viruses cause you cant take their whining and bitching about everything. Hell! Tell them to call Bernie Sanders and get him over to the your house to fix it all.Yeah it might a eye opening moment in childhood development.
Point is turn this massive hit we are getting ready to be slammed with into a positive and get prepared for it. ITS COMING AND THERE IS NOT A DANG THING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT.
DO YOU WANT TO LIVE THRU IT OR GET BURIED BECAUSE OF IT!
DONT FORGET YOU PETS EITHER IN YOUR PLANS!
RANT OFF!
None of that changes the numbers. It provides and explanation for why the numbers are different in China from the US or Singapore. But it doesn't change the raw numbers. And trying to understand this is not trying to induce panic. But this is not just another virus. The high mortality rate in China or Italy for that matter tells us that. It needs to be taken seriously.
So to get this straight, claiming a number that is based on a likely falsely low number is bad science. OK. Got it.
Your safer statement, and one that would be more irrefutable is that this would represent the worst case scenario. Because we do not know the true number, we cannot calculate rates. The only rate that we can say for sure is that the incidence of CoVid-19 in the epicentric province in China is 0.6% population. If this is as densely populated as we are led to believe — then that is a very small incidence of the disease.
But don’t let facts get in the way and reinforce your arguments by saying people are talking down to you.
You are correct and yes I watched it. Great presser and they do not seem the slightest bit concerned about coronavirus...only the press and left’s reaction to their handling of it.
