I found the link here and have been watching him daily since. It must have been you who posted the link. Thank you! He is the most reasonable, well spoken, factual, source I’ve found. I like how he writes the info to follow along with. And it doesn’t hurt that he is like-able. Well his voice is lol.

Thank you again. Wish everyone would watch them.

When we got here in ‘69, Coos Bay was the world’s largest timber/lumber shipping port The streets were full of Japanese crewmen from all of the ships in port. Now, the streets are full of stoned homeless people.

Argh. A Wenzhou-based factory owner tells how district officials are telling him his closed factory (he has no workers) must turn on the machines and consume electricity or he’ll get “a visit”. Higher ups are watching the electricity numbers. The anti-Li Keqiang indicator!

She’s probably saving everything you say here...

Just kidding!
Lot of changes since we were young men who could make a difference.

He’s based out of Banning, CA, btw. I really like his teaching style, too. Very straightforward in terms someone without a medical background can understand but that just as useful for a med student. Sure beats reading Lancet papers, right? lol

send him a couple of CT machines and crank ‘em up! One man job.

[400+ miles away,] Doctors in West China Hospital, #Chengdu , SW China, have successfully used #5G technology to do a remote diagnosis of COVID-19 patients, particularly with the use of remote control CT scanners. This was the first time the method was used in China

Ya gotta avoid Highway 38. The city of Drain is a notorious speed-trap. Give me a high-speed run west on 126 or a late-night shot actoss 42, after the deer have gotten to their feeding areas.

Was the largest lumber port then became the largest timber port before becoming the largest importer of U-Hauls.

I did two economics papers at Cornell on the world timber trade—my uncle was head of the foresters association in Oregon at the time.

In softwood, Coos Bay got s*****d by a combination of the Japanese, the Canadians, and D.C.

Dad’s family moved to Reedsport about ‘57, and you only beat me to the area by a span of months—we moved back to the area as soon as Dad was done with active Navy duties. One of my early memories is of mom volunteering at the Seamen Centre back about ‘73,

Dad worked for 25 years at the Unocal terminal next to Weyhauser.

He won’t go back now. I can see his point.

Down town makes the Greenacres bus during the late 80’s look cultured and high class.

Young men who thought we could make a difference.

I still think I may make a positive difference in a few lives.

Humility isn’t a bad thing. Wisdom is good.

As young men we could have made a great difference- if we knew what we do now. LOL! Anyway, gone far off the point of this thread.

Dad’s stomping grounds were actually Scottsburg, and I think that I know the speed traps via genetics.

Never had to try to lose a cop on 38. Dad has a few stories though.

I’m pretty sure I did lose one on 42 one night during college coming home from swing shift on GP. There is a trailer park on the straight stretch just before the Greenacres turnoff when you are coming in from Coquille. After I blew by the trailer part, a set of ominous looking headlights can on and pulled out behind me and started to gain. I didn’t slow down noticeably when I hit the turn out lane for the curve (which was on the left) to give the impression I was going round the curve until I was out of sight, and then slowed down enough that I was likely only doing about 35 when I ran the stop sign across the highway and then drove the Greenacres roads like a bat out of hell until I was safe in my driveway.

In hindsight, tearing out the covered mall in downtown may have been a very good idea. I haven’t bothered walking through there, lately, but a friend was bitching that the street lamps they put in all had electrical outlets at their bases, and the homeless were taping tarps to the poles, making tents, and plugging space heaters in for free electricity.
