If Schumer had any sense, he'd spend the rest of the weekend negotiating with McConnell on how to end this farce quickly while he still has a party

Cut your losses before it's too late, Senator. Don't go down with the sinking ship.

But, but, but I WANT the democrat ship to sink...

Yep - after Saturday, the Dem team will need to load up on Xanax before taking their seats on Monday - finally a part of the fiasco that I don’t want to miss....

We need Adam Schiff’s head on a pike as part of the deal.
IMHO the Senate can only redeem this fiasco by adopting “the Pelosi Rule.”

Before she got on board this train, Pelosi asserted that an impeachment had to be bipartisan or it would be damaging to the country. Well, she was right. Therefore the Senate rule which would have prevented this fiasco - and whose adoption would prevent a recurrence of it - should be named after her.

The rule is simple, and essentially the reverse of the “Reid Rule” which prevented filibustering of Trump’s judicial nominees. The “Pelosi Rule” should enable the filibustering of the taking up of an impeachment by the House.

The Constitution doesn’t mandate when sits as a jury on an impeachment, and therefore the Senate need not bother putting an impeachment on its calendar. Any attempt to take up a partisan impeachment should simply be killed by a filibuster. If you can’t get 60 votes to break a filibuster, how are you gonna get 67 votes to convict???
