JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) — Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin told a Christian broadcaster she learned her husband was seeking a divorce in an email from his attorney.

The revelation came in an interview released Tuesday with James Dobson, founder of the Family Talk Christian ministry. He said the interview had been conducted previously.

Palin said she received an email June 19 from the attorney, almost three months before Todd Palin filed for divorce on his birthday in September.

She described the filing that came shortly after their 31st wedding anniversary as devastating. “I thought I got shot,” she said.

Palin said they’re going through counseling and their marriage isn’t “over, over.” She said attorneys are “getting rich” off them.

I’d bet that may go both ways......
Todd was the home body taking care of a child. The
other was a traveler seeing the world and ......

That was my immediate thought as well. Someone in whose drama he is Batman, not Robin.

She is one hot looking lady. What a stupid ass this jerk is.

Let’s not exaggerate. She’s a 55-year-old grandmother. And you weren’t a fly on the wall in their home.

If he broke up with her in person and the situation escalated..

Well, I can't see anything here getting escalated, but - the Palins aren't exactly known for winning any couth and tact awards either. No velvet gloves here...lol

Of course it would’ve escalated. If he had tried to break up with her in person? She would’ve become hysterical. And that alone increases a man’s chance of going to jail and getting a restraining order slapped on him by about 80%. He wouldn’t even have to open his mouth or move a muscle.

I understand.

I just don’t believe that what we’re seeing is the truth, when it comes to such a high-profile couple.

In the very old days, the man often ‘took the fall’ for a failed marriage, to save the woman’s reputation.

Who knows what’s going on here? Maybe the husband isn’t the scoundrel that some appear to think; maybe it’s actually an amicable decision to divorce and move on, carefully engineered.

We don’t know, and probably never will.

Now that I think about it, I guess I could see that - it would've further damaged her "brand". I dunno. Whatever happened, it happened. I wish them both well in the future. And that it's a nice quiet amicable split.

Really? Tell the people of Alaska who worked to elect her Governor only to have her leave after two years to make $$$ from Fox.

One of my Daughter’s friends in Alaska worked on her Governor campaign and VP run. After Palin resigned as Governor, the friend said she would never get involved in politics again.

Or vice versa.

You never know how difficult a man is to live with unless you really know him.

I have a feeling that this thread will devolve into the “It’s always the woman’s fault” and “All men are angels” thread.

I’ve lost all respect for Todd Palin. Sarah is better off without him.

Well, it’s kind of scary when it ‘happens’ to a woman we thought savvy enough to be the second in line to the Presidency.

I’m still not ‘buying’ that this all went down as the story maintains.

Because of course you were a fly on the wall in their home for 31 years, right? You have no idea who is “fault“ it or what went on . And of course, they are both better off. No need to put yourself through the misery of staying married to someone.

Sadly, most of the “males” on FR would cheer if he did have another woman. And he probably does. Unfortunately, many men are sluts.

They blame women for all of the failures in their lives.

There are plenty of female ‘sluts’ in the world - and they whine the loudest.

Maybe he has a girlfriend now, maybe not. I mean, if you think about it, she had way more opportunity to cheat during the marriage that he did. She was constantly traveling, meeting very rich powerful men. Let the man go his own way and have some peace.

“Boy were they in shock when just 10 freaking days after the divorce was granted they got married.”

10 days? Hell. mine got married BEFORE the divorce was settled. The day the judge dropped the hammer, they were at Niagara Falls.

My lawyer asked me what I wanted to do? I told him to inform her lawyer that we know all the details and that if she even so much as farts, we are coming after her.
She managed to make a few nasty calls after and I promptly had a restraining order slapped on her and her new hubby. Warned them that the law suit was being prepared.

They left me alone after that.
