The Impeachment Needle May Soon Move (Peggy Noonan)
Peggy Noonan Wall Street Journal column ^ | Oct 19 2019 | Peggy Noonan

Things are more fluid than they seem. That’s my impression of Washington right now. There’s something quiet going on, a mood shift.

Impeachment of course will happen. The House will support whatever charges are ultimately introduced because most Democrats think the president is not fully sane and at least somewhat criminal. Also they’re Democrats and he’s a Republican. The charges will involve some level of foreign-policy malfeasance.

The ultimate outcome depends on the Senate. It takes 67 votes to convict. Republicans control the Senate 53-47, and it is unlikely 20 of them will agree to remove a president of their own party. An acquittal is likely but not fated, because we live in the age of the unexpected

If he is literally impeached by the Senate, there will more violence and blood shed the United States has ever seen.

If we go to another civil war, I'm estimating 50 million dead. That's backed by math, and it's a reason to make sure we have no other acceptable alternatives. Note: Tolerating a coup against the duly-elected President of the United States is not an acceptable alternative.

If there won’t be a conviction, never Trump pubs aren’t going to tie themselves to a conviction vote. They know if they take a shot at the king and miss, they will face a world of hurt.

Actually I’m not sure all of the people on your list would really want to vote for impeachment. But I do think they all will, because I would bet that there’s dirt on every single one of them and they’re being blackmailed.

Absolutely. The Senate voting for conviction on essentially nothing burger charges would be a grievous mistake. It would be an unprecedented miscarriage of justice and an open repudiation of the Constitution and the civic bonds that have held The Republic together all of these years. I and many others would feel that we are no longer subject to any law except that of God. How this would play out is unknowable.

And in 1974, we elected Democrats by the ton. The place was a burning pile by the time Reagan won six years later.

Peggy Noonan has managed to become quite the meaningless hag over time. She used to be a lot of fun when she wore her white Oxford shirts and was a noontime lush.

There are lots of GOP Senators that don’t want us to stop the Bush Plan for North Mexico (aka USA). It’s been their life’s work to fundamentally transform the USA into North Mexico against the will of the citizens. Getting rid of Trump is essential.

Alexander, Graham, McSally, Murkowsky, Hoeven, Rubio, Tillis, Burr, Lankford, Gardner, Cornyn, Hyde-Smith, Collins, Sasse, Kennedy, Shelby, Ernst, Blunt, McConnell, Wicker, Portman, Isakson, Johnson, Toomey, Rounds, Thune, Gaines, Lee, Romney, Capito, Barasso and Enzi are all Bush League Republicans.

Pick 20.

She is so wrong.

She is living in a fantasy world of her own #nevertrump making. One where the GOP would defy their voters. Over nothing.

Never. Happening.

Impeachment of course will happen.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

That’s all the left has got. They know they can’t defeat him at the ballot box.

If the Senate assigns ANY guilt, then it will be the end of the Republican party as we know it.

30 GOP senators would vote to convict if the ballot was secret. They may try to put such a rule in effect for the trial, arguing that “jury” votes are always by secret ballot. The constitution allows each house to set its rules for its proceedings.

It is my GUESS that ANY member of Congress that votes FOR impeachment, just might have to rent a villa at one of those extended stay business hotels, at government rates, of course, because their constituents might have ideas of treating them, like the German villagers treated the Frankenstein monster!

Nevertrumper harridan dolt

Her sugar walls dry for decades woke up coated in fresh dew today at the mere possibility of a possibility boorish Donald may be overthrown

She quivered....and felt a long dormant toe crunch which prompted her to say to herself perhaps I should get that pedicure after all

As she eased from beneath her sheets in her favorite old granny gown

Wishful thinking. They know removing Trump would precipitate massive civil unrest.

That is the most disgusting thing I have ever read on this site. Pornography that inspires hurling rather than hard-ons.
