MINNEAPOLIS — Saying its top priority is the safety and well-being of customers, Cub Foods is asking shoppers not to openly carry firearms in its stores.

The announcement was made Saturday on the retailer's Twitter account: "While Minnesota is an open-carry state that allows individuals with lawful permits to carry firearms, we also respect the concerns and feedback shared by many of our customers following the recent tragic events throughout our country. Therefore, we're respectfully asking our customers, other than authorized law enforcement officials, to no longer openly carry firearms into our stores."

What is not clear at this point is what actions Cub will take with permitted customers who refuse to cooperate with the policy.

Sprouts is nothing but high priced social statements.

Actually, Sprouts has some of the lowest produce prices around. Everything else in the store is 20-50% higher than other grocers.

In Minnesota, the signs mean nothing. If a official representative of the business asks you to leave, however, then you must leave or you are trespassing. Does not affect your permit at all.

Correct! I have never paid any attention to those “legally posted signs”. They must make someone feel better, I guess.

Having worked in the retail industry for a number of years I really do think a lot of this is driven by the fact that they don’t trust their minimum-wage help to exercise common sense.

Sally Jo part-time cashier sees a man with a gun walk in. She immediately assumes he is there to rob the place, or is there to conduct a mass shooting. She calls 911, the SWAT team shows up and all hell breaks loose. Joe Law Abiding Open Carrier gets plugged in the chest and dies in Aisle Five.

That is their nightmare scenario I’m sure.

Another example of "Woke Capitalism".

Good article, worth reading all of it, here's part of the conclusion::

.... Instead of making business woke, we should not let our moral horizons be clouded by sentimental humanitarianism. We must critique woke capitalism clearly and forcibly, remembering that business exists to realize the particular economic ends that constitute its specific common good. The very integrity of business as a distinct form of voluntary association that makes a particular contribution to society’s overall well-being is at stake....

Frankly, if Cub is okay with concealed carry but not open carry because they don’t want to deal with hysteria needlessly, I’m okay with that. It’s the NO CARRY folks I don’t care for.

CONGRATULATIONS.

You're the first "Ban Open Carry Zombie" on this thread.

You deserve a banana.

Or probably better to call you a "Woke Capitalism Zombie".

Yeah, that's it.

Anyone who willfully agrees to voluntarily surrendering any part of their Constitutionally guaranteed right to bear arms is a "Woke Capitalism Zombie" (a term I made up, but that's perfectly suited for this type situation).

And there are MANY of them here at FR.

I am curious as to how Cub is going to enforce this.

If they legally post the front door, that would exclude all permitted carriers. open and concealed.

There is no provision in the law that allows a legal posting in order to exclude only open carry.

Stay tuned!

Aldi. Better prices anyway.
Haven’t had good luck with their dairy, though...

Carry it in your hand and put a paper bag over it ,wait do they still make paper bags

I read where the Homies carry a gun in a plastic bag so that when they shoot up a place, no cartridge cases are left behind.

Yes, it’ll be interesting.

They’ll have to get clobbered like Nike to realize their folly in endorsing Woke Capitalism.

Even if we personally are not in the habit of open carry, we MUST defend every lawful citizen’s right to do it, because “Woke Capitalism” eventually gets written into law when anti-Constitutional legislators come into power.

WOKE CAPITALISM ZOMBIE

One whose normally innate instinct for protecting Liberty is precluded, negated, or superseded by an irrational desire to get along with others.

First draft, anyone chime in.

That's Indianapolis, Indiana; not Minneapolis, Minnesota.

I haven't seen or heard any policy out of Minnesota Aldi stores.

I’ve never seen open carry in the Twin Cities either.
