[Vanity]Can a CLASS ACTION SUIT be filed when News Networks deliberate lie...
1-October-2019

Posted on 10/01/2019 3:54:32 PM PDT by topher

There was a movie made called 'sex lies and videotape'. Maybe to describe the HACKET JOB by MSM it would LIES, LIES, MORE LIES, VIDEOTAPE, and sex...

Listening to ABC NEWS and DAVID MUIR tonight, it was clear that the ANCHOR (the CLOWN POSING AS A NEWS ANCHOR) was clearly twisting quotes of Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

I would like to see a written transcript of the first five minutes of that ABCNEWS broadcast (ABC Nightly News for 1-OCT-2019).

There was also an article earlier this week about the CBSNEWS show 60 Minutes making up stuff about the 'WhistleBlower'.

Because of who owns the Network News (Disney for ABCNEWS as an example), there are deep pockets.

So if it can be proven that 50 to 100 million people in the US are harmed, there could be a multi-billion award in a class action suit.

When I carefully listened to the broadcast, I was furious.

Transcript available?

I agree that something needs to be done. If it can be proves the deliberately lied to mislead voters, their must be some law about lying to help a political party.

This is a good question. I imagine the answer to whether it is actionable depends on who paid for what and whether the what was sufficiently defective and intended to deceive that consumers could sue for damages.

Perfectly legal. The boundaries are defamation (civil damages if they harm a named person's reputation by lies), disclosure of (true) military, crypotgraphy, spy, or military intelligence. That's it.

The press lies full time to mislead voters. That is the INTENDED FUNCTION of the press.

To sue someone, whether individually or as representative of a class, you have to have suffered some legally cognizable injury. What injury did you suffer?

For example, before World War II, Germany made at least one propaganda video shows a German defiled by a group Poles. Germany used this video and the outrage to invade Poland on September 1, 1939.

If FAKE NEWS is being used to CONTROL PEOPLE, then, in my opinion, there is damage.

For example if a state would have mostly Republican representatives, and the media DECEIVES voters, and Democrats are elected because of FAKE NEWS, then there is damage.

I don’t know if we have any recourse left except vigilante style actions.
Our side will not even get active enough to protest what amounts to libel effectively.
That’s bad.

Good luck with that. The crap we are seeing is worse than what the Nazis did in your example. I don’t see any “people motivated” to invade anything. “The People” are sick of this crap. And they don’t care.

I don’t think so.

I think that they have to show specific damage as a result of the action.

Just not liking it, or just because they lied is not sufficient.

The Left would protest outside the local affiliate with fake news signs.
You can suck on it,organize and perform an action or donate to POTUS so he can run 1/2 hour spots in every market telling the truth(ala Ross Perot)

Yep... A couple of elections ago FOX outright lied about a state being a closed primary state when it was indeed an open primary state. I filed a formal complaint with both the FCC and the FEC. No go, I was told they can lie all they want because of Constitutional freedom of the press.

And that was flat out deceptive election rigging that could be proved beyond a reasonable doubt.

So the injury is that Democrats get elected? If you are raising only a generally available grievance about government and have suffered no injury different from the public at large, then you have no standing and there is “controversy” over which federal courts have standing under Article III of the Constitution. In order to have standing, you to have suffered some concrete and particularized injury that has affected you in some personal and individual way.

So the answer is no, you haven’t identified any basis for a class action or any other lawsuit here.

Typo in my last post:

Pompeo was clearly dodging the question.

He has his rights and they have theirs.

My house was cleaner at 7pm than at 6:30pm.

Depends on how the lie was presented. If it was aimed at you, and you are defamed, yes. Nick Sandmann is an example. But the networks have the money and time on their side. If you’re in it to get the money, you won’t see anything like that except what you spend for years. And by the time the whole thing is settled, and that they control a majority of the outbound news, no one will know or care.

And if it’s a public apology you’re after it will be in the NY Times on page 103 in print so small, you’d need a microscope to see it.

So it’s not a matter of whether it’s legal...is it worth it to spend two million dollars to do it to get a court ordered one million back. You’re insolvent and they will make sure something is more important to their readers.
