You can find this little fun word game, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications.
The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).
Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated.
PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and any tips you might give the group on how you solve these puzzles as puzzle solvers love to hear how you made out.
You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for todays Cryptogram.
If you need a little help you can copy the cryptogram and paste it to Hals Helper below:
You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper.
THE IN THING NOW IS TO SCROLL DOWN TO MAGNUM44S HELPFUL HINT BEFORE YOU SOLVE THE PUZZLE.
Solution to our last puzzle:
THE SECRET OF SUCCESS IS MAKING HAY WITH THE GRASS THAT GROWS UNDER OTHER PEOPLES FEET. ---AUTHOR UNKNOWN
SBTC
(solved before the clue)
...but posted after the clue.
Oh well...
About 2 min. Solving 3 word author helped a lot.
Hey, once the rockets go up, who cares where they come down, that's not my department.
The pattern suggests word 5, word 5 gives you word 7, and after that it’s all downhill. A three word name with second word three letters always suggests the second word in this case. Or the Dutch equivalent.
I shot a missile in the air.
It fell to Earth I know not where.
Until the next day with rage profound,
the man it fell on came around.
In less time than it takes to tell,
he showed me where that missile fell.
And now I do not greatly care
to shoot more missiles in the air.
Bout 3 min. Got the author, but kept fat fingering letters on my phone.
No project is ready to ship until the documentation outweighs the product itself.
The Cryptogram was fairly easy, but who can find the misspelled word?
First axiom of engineering. :)
LAST word before author?
I got ‘lucky’ and got the middle ‘last’ name and the rest fell in place and I was going to say something ‘cute’ like
I wasn’t ‘expecting’ the ‘h’ in the first name and was looking for it in the last word???
About 3-4 minutes today.
