Tuesday on Good Morning America, the Jeopardy! host said he was doing so well and his medical reports had approached normal levels after his first round of chemo for stage 4 pancreatic cancer. But he suddenly began losing weight.
I lost about 12 pounds in a week, Trebek said. And my numbers went sky high, much higher than they were when I was first diagnosed. So, the doctors have decided that I have to undergo chemo again, and thats what Im doing.
Early on, I was down on myself. I didnt realize how fallible each of us is in his or her own way, he said. I talk to the audience sometimes and I get teary-eyed for no reason. I dont even bother to explain it anymore. I just experience it. I know its a part of who I am and I just keep going.
The thought of passing on doesnt frighten me, he said. Other things do. The effect it will have on my loved ones yes, that bothers me. It makes me sad. But the thought of myself moving on? Hey, folks, it comes with the territory.

Setbacks are probably an indication that his is not too far off.
He has to deal with this in a very public way, and is doing so with great class and dignity.
The guy is all class, imo.
Cancer is a bad hombre, unlike Beto.
I couldn’t resist.
He is the best, I agree. Always a class gent.
I’m 65. At this stage in my life, if I get cancer, one of three thins will happen:
1. Natural methods will cure me.
2. I’ll die
3. I’ll be miraculously cured.
Regarding number 3, my wife and I already have two miraculous healings.
I do not recall a single instance where Alec Trebek was ever caught up in a political scene or scandal. He was always the epitome of class and dignity, and understood he was not a serious force in the world - but rather a force that was burdened with the mission to entertain the world without demeaning anyone.
I wish him well, and hope the setback is simply that - a delayed step forward toward continued health.
God Bless Alex Trebek, having to deal with one of the worst cancers that have ever existed and doing it all in public. Prayers sent!
I hope the treatment will help. Aggressive treatment is the best in such situations.
Sad. My mom and I watch every weeknight & Saturday. He was the subject of that show Harvey Levin had/has on FoxNews one night.

My mom was diagnosed at 77 and chose to check out.
No treatments, no chemo. She did not want to be tortured
by medical science, and as a Christian was secure in the knowledge of where she was going.
Her brother is fighting tooth-and-nail because he is the de-facto parent to his grandson.
I defended the right of each to make their choice in this allegedly free country.
He should call Ginsburg and find out her secret.
The only political thing I think he’s ever done was serve as moderator of a Governor’s Debate here in PA. I think it was a straight-up paying TV gig.
doesn’t sound good- i think the type he has is pancreatic cancer- He talked about it awhile back, and said he realizes he is very very fortunate to be able to pay the super high prices for care he’s getting- You could tell he was very appreciative of the fact he was blessed enough to pay-
Tough to deal with no matter the amount of money- Hope he can beat it-
Yep. I’m in your mom’s camp. But if I had kids depending on me, it would be different. My wife’s first husband died of leukemia with no life insurance. She was left with three kids under the age of 8. It was quite difficult.
"The Lord will take us when hes good and ready, and life is an adventure. Some of that time may be spent with less than optimum limbs, organs, mental capacity, etc. Cancer or similar will not be treated. Life is a mist." ..
I found it soothing and insightful....and it makes one really think about our lives....
SO sad to hear this. Prayers for Alex continue...
I was never particularly fond of Alex but he has gone way up in my eyes. He really is being a class guy.
I am afraid the end is near.
