I'm the president of the Reunion.
My cousin, first to arrive, is 20 years older than me.
He says who needs assault rifles.
I explain we need them to protect ourselves from the Government.
He says the 2nd amendment is outdated, not meant for these times.
Then he says Trump is a white supremacist.
I said no he is not and please provide one thing he's said or done to back that up.
...anyone sensing a pattern?
I said, you don't watch CNN or MSNBC do you?
He say, you don't watch Fox do you?
Then he says, "you lack critical thinking skills"
I reply, I have a masters from the oldest ivy league engineering school in the United States. (RPI)
He dropped it. His wife and sister were listening in.
They are out their in droves. Retarded group thinkers.

Everyone should try to stay away from politics at the reunion and just enjoy.

One’s politics are a reflection of oneself, therefore there’s no escaping the knowledge of the mindset of those one is surrounded in such events. It’s difficult to “enjoy” when in the company of morons. It’s difficult to “enjoy” when one has to work at it.

I’ve noticed that liberals can’t stop themselves from bringing it up. Plus they try to outdo each other in being more extreme in their derangement.
Everyone is experiencing this at any gathering.
Recently had a discussion with my husband regarding ‘changing minds’. He believes it is impossible, I disagree. My point is that everyone changes their mind. No person is the same as they were 10 yrs. ago. Events happen that change perspective.
If the goal is to convince someone of anything, it’s all about the approach.
Example: if one believes that murder does not exist, provide evidence (an article, photo etc.) and ask that the look at it.
Most lose these ‘discussions’ because they become emotional. They try to defend a ridiculous unfounded claim. “You’re a racist” etc. Most liberals cannot move beyond emotion. They distract by making emotional statements. Truth always wins, it is how it is presented that makes the difference.
Sometime ago, i spoke with a liberal appalled at the thought of a wall. I ask her these questions in this order.
Should america have a border? Yes
Do walls work? No
Should we tear down all existing walls? Well......no.
And the conversation continued, she was forced to prove her thoughts on the subject and couldn’t. She had never thought past her initial knee jerk reaction to Trump. After feeling defeated, she reverted to the ‘all Mexicans are rapists and murderers’, and i continued my approach. She left the conversation a little more thoughtful of her own views.
Asking simple yes no questions eliminates emotion and avoidance. To open ones mind, if that person comes to there own conclusion by answering questions, that works.
You cannot expect everyone to agree with you. People have the right to be wrong. I value my friends and family. So I follow these two rules.
1. Do not talk politics. Change the subject.
2. Do not talk religion. Change the subject.
Bottom line: You can change a person’s mind about many things. But politics and religion aren’t on that list.
Boy I’ve seen those conversations get out of control like wildfires!!
Just as fast and just as furious and putting the cat back in the bag is HARD.
And then there are lingering hard feelings the rest of the evening even if the discussion is ended.
There are NO liberals among my siblings and cousins
They’re frigging imports from marriage.
And for those that think everyone should shut up about politics, I disagree.
Not discussing politics for generations has created this problem. Divided and ignorant allows these grifting politicians to keep doing what they’ve been doing for decades.
It took Trump being elected to educate die hard republicans that politicians are not conservatives. They are no better then democrats.
Good advice. Like the Skynyrd song goes, “If you want to ‘bout fishing, well I guess that’ll be ok.”

Discuss the border crisis and the russian collusion hoax and record it secretly. Then tell him you want him to listen to a recording but you want him to substitute the word “russian” every time he says “mexican” and vice versa. Then ask him how he would feel about millions of russians overwhelming our border or if it bothers him that democrats openly collude with mexican nationals to meddle in our elections.
