What are your wifi security settings on the router?

If it is set to WEP, the new laptop probably wants WPA or WPA2/PSK.

Newer devices will not connect to the old WEP.

None of that security has ever been on. I use the mac list that allows only those devices onto the network. But I turned off that feature.
