Google’s Work in China Benefiting China’s Military, Top US General Says

WASHINGTON—The United States’ top general said on March 14 that the Chinese military was benefiting from the work Alphabet Inc’s Google was doing in China, where the technology giant has long sought to have a bigger presence.

“The work that Google is doing in China is indirectly benefiting the Chinese military,” Marine General Joseph Dunford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said during a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing.

“We watch with great concern when industry partners work in China knowing that there is that indirect benefit,” he said. “Frankly, ‘indirect’ may be not a full characterization of the way it really is, it is more of a direct benefit to the Chinese military.”

Last year Google said it was no longer vying for a $10 billion cloud computing contract with the U.S. Defense Department, in part because the company’s new ethical guidelines do not align with the project.

In June, Google said it would not renew a contract to help the U.S. military analyze aerial drone imagery when it expires, as the company sought to defuse an internal uproar over the deal.

At the same time, Google said it has “no plans” to relaunch a search engine in China, though it is continuing to study the idea.

During the hearing, Republican Senator Josh Hawley sharply criticized the tech company, referring to it as “a supposedly American company.”

Technology companies have recently been a target of many members of the U.S. Congress, who have criticized them over a wide range of issues such as privacy, work in China and allowing foreign meddling in U.S. elections.

Lawmakers and Google employees have raised concerns that the company would comply with China’s internet censorship and surveillance policies if it re-enters the Asian nation’s search engine market.

Asked about Dunford’s comments, Google referred to previous statements.

Google Chief Executive Sundar Pichai has previously said the company has invested in China for years and plans to continue to do so, but that the company also was continuing to work with the U.S. government on projects in healthcare, cybersecurity and other fields.

Are these the Indians who "take over" my computer to fix its problems?

Yes, some are quite bright but most of the tech support is a phone bank with folks trying to match the issue you have with a database of answers which they aren't always successful with. They also frequently use Anglicized aliases - the less imaginative use celebrity names.

He should be heckled every time he turns up in Wisconsin.

He didn't take up residence in the swamp after retiring? That would surprise me.

The Lisa Page thing is very important, because they hide behind the Official Secrets Act, so you never know what proof they do or do not have; so for them to come out and admit that they never DID have any evidence, I should think that is a bad bad thing.

Maryland Democrats Pushing for State to Become Sanctuary for Illegal Immigrants

Sheriff Chuck Jenkins ended up with two suspected cartel hitmen in his Frederick County, Maryland, jail last week. Maryland State Police made the arrests after discovering drugs and guns in their vehicle.

Jenkins said the only way that jail officers were able to determine the two men were in the United States illegally and were alleged hitmen was through his county’s cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

But, Jenkins said, that cooperation could soon be blocked if a raft of new bills pass the Maryland legislature—effectively rendering Maryland a sanctuary state for illegal aliens, by shielding them from immigration authorities.

Jenkins said that if he was prohibited from communicating with ICE and honoring a detainer from the agency, the alleged hitmen could have been released on a bond—with no one knowing their cartel connections.

The sheriff serves in one of three Maryland counties—along with Anne Arundel and Harford—that currently cooperates with ICE through its 287(g) program. The program allows for ICE to be alerted when an illegal alien is booked into a county correctional facility.

you can’t always look at insider sales like that - you can only sell so much at any given time and there are limited windows when sales can be made. For the most part people are the same, they’re doing home improvements, or whatever, and also want to diversify their positions as well as transform paper to $$$. What you want to (not) see is people in the know dumping huge amounts with insider knowledge leading them to do such things.

Suppose the indictments on Trump’s kids were a ploy to placate and fool the DU and Swamp that Mueller’s investigation was serious about going after Trump? After all, are not sealed indictments meant to be secret yet, those swamp critters seemed to know of their existence.

IMO, Mueller and RR were in on the entire ruse to fool the Deep State. I don’t see how the investigations could have been kept under wraps without their participation.

My view as well. TBD.... :-)
