U.S. District Judge Gray Miller ruled late on Friday that although historical restrictions on women serving in combat 'may have justified past discrimination,' men and women are now equally able to fight.
Restrictions for women in military service were lifted by the Pentagon in 2015.
The ruling could see and end to the Selective Service System which was upheld in the Supreme Court in 1981.

Women, even those exercising every day, long and hard to achieve a level of strength held by some men at the lower end, will regress much faster once they stop exercising than men do.
My wife shovels snow way more than I do...:)
That said, any disparagement of the relative physical inefficiencies doesn’t in any way reflect disrespect of women, it reflects a statement of fact. I have with and for excellent women who were my bosses and I would crawl across broken glass for them because they had my back.
But the civilian world is not the military one, and it certainly isn’t a Hollywood one, that is for sure. In a physical confrontation with men intent on killing in a combat situation, the vast majority of women are going to lose.
Dear Sir or Madam; You need to read what I said about 3 times, over about 3 days, and then try to write something about it.
The standard catch phrase of the coward who is quite willing for anybody else to take the risks for freedom. Saw more than enough of you types carrying the enemy flag during our war in Vietnam.
Agreed.

Compelled duty is false duty. To be "willing to risk" something demands the choice to risk it.
The 13th A is clear. Quit trying to wave the flag over a violation of the Constitution.
"Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction."
If you don't volunteer, it is involuntary service.
“They want equality, they have to take equal responsibility.”
Yup! You wants it, you gots it!
The military is far different than it was in WWII or even Vietnam. Its basically a huge bureaucracy now. The vast majority of soldiers, even supposedly in combat MOS will never really get fired on by an enemy. Thats why is so easy to pretend women are soldiers now. The future military is a giant supply train with robots and a small elite core of special force operators doing all the actual fighting.
Trump should propose mandatory border patrol for 19 year olds.
Just for fun.
This one now has to go to the Supreme Court! Girls are girls and should not be drafted into the military. I don’t care what some kooky judge says, girls are biologically different from men. To draft them is to try to deny this fact.
And if you’re willing to serve, to risk your life for your country, you should forfeit your citizenship and be deported.
I meant to say if you’re NOT willing to serve..
Id say split the difference and draft only feminists.
Nordic countries right now got no complaints to plausibly make about any savages but the ones they chose to import from the third world in staggering numbers.
I despise these people. This judge just determined that biological reality changed and women and men can serve in combat? The judge is a lunatic.
Yep, how can veteran families not be entitled to reparations from women? Yes slavery was bad but they did not make slaves take war casualties. I guess men are entitled in general. /s
I am not saying that people don’t go into harms way. I am just saying the army wants the women as well as the men, because there are lots of jobs that don’t involve a gun. In fact they don’t involve going outside. Limiting the recruits to half the population gives you half the smart people. And the army wants all of them.
We call that choice "freedom". You know, that foundational idea behind the country you are defending?
Strange how you believe that forcing people to do what you think they should, should also carry with it a penalty of stripping citizenship for not complying, and you think that's what America stands for. Not that it surprises me you don't get the 14th A either.
What other things do you believe everyone in America should be forced to do? Vote? Buy health insurance? Recite the Pledge of Allegiance? Build roads? Be cops?
All those may be desirable, even laudable, but you lose me when you start FORCING people to do them. Same with forced service in the military (or quasi-military "government service"). The government doesn't own people, nor their time, nor their labor.
The males in our society were traditionally the bulwark: as demonstrated during WWII, American men met the challenge and defeated Japan and Germany and saved our freedom and the world's in the process.
Since those days, fewer and fewer men are volunteering - which is why the services are going through the fiction that women can serve in combat roles.
Somehow, the fiction has been created that men don't have an innate duty to risk themselves for the survival of their country - and it's just fine to make up excuses (this or that war is unnecessary, or illegal, or too far away..etc.). All they are, are excuses for weakness, selfishness, and cowardice.
Your freedom and this country founded on the greatest principles will disappear if the men are not willing to take on the burdens, the dangers of defending it.
I remember only too clearly what it felt like to be a young man among a bunch of good young men who did accept the hell of warfare for our country - and saw many other young men find excuses to avoid helping us. It was deeply shameful to see some them even carrying the enemy's flag or escaping to Canada to avoid risking their precious selves.
This is how countries die.
