I bought a box of stuff (mostly junk) from a farmer in Wisconsin to resell in my antiques booth in SE Pennsylvania. Rolled up in a paper towel roll was a letter from President Grover Cleveland to Queen Victoria congratulating her on her 50th Jubilee(ascension to the crown). It was authenticated and valued at $7K. It’s hanging in my dining room.
Then I realized, that lady is STILL queen right now. Glad she's not in imminent danger, but it can't be much longer now.
Nothing on my BBC app on the phone and nothing on Sky News via streaming, so...

That's for sure. Charles is a world-class doofus that no one can take seriously. Diana was none too bright, either. From such a breeding, what can you expect from the sons? Prince William seems to have turned out all right, but his brother? Harry made himself a walking joke marrying a half-black divorced actress older than himself. She will never fit into the Royal Family. It's not just an acting role, it's the rest of her life, and she just isn't cut from the right cloth, hard as she tries. She doesn't have the effortless grace and class of Kate Middleton. I don't see a bright future for the Royal Family; I really agree that their libtard views will result in an end to the line, replaced by muzzlimes.
Those services weren’t around when Queen Victoria (the subject here) passed away. And probably people in those days read past the headline.

Great story. My father died almost two years ago. He had a lot of stuff in his house, and I went through all of it. I found some interesting things too — nothing quite like what you found — but interesting to me. You never know what someone has left behind.

Her coronation was telecast to the US and was a big deal. I think it was around the time the Andrea Doria went down, but am too lazy to look it up.
Lizzy’s coronation was in 1953.
The Andrea Doria initiated service in that year, and went down in 1956. Do I get partial credit?

I periodically post interesting news stories from the land of long ago on their anniversary. This was posted under chat, with the correct date and labeled as History. The old newspaper archives are a fascinating look into a world now long gone.
