I imagine the impact on air travel alone could have a dramatic effect on commerce around the globe.

Maybe the CEO of Delta could take a smaller salary/benefits package to compensate for the shutdown loss. IIRC they took full salaries after 9/11 when taxpayers bailed out airlines.

Or maybe not pass out the tiny peanut packages if they still do that.
