if your looking for burdock or similar - there is a Japanese version that can commonly be found in asian food stores, Whole Foods, Mustard Seed, and Trader Joes carries it all the time. In Japan they call it Gobo.

Gotta take issue with this part. When reading the poem it's clear that it speaks of an American Marine. The poem was written by Marine Lance Corporal Schmidt and was published in 'Leatherneck' magazine in Dec 1991. I was US Army, but credit goes where it's due; Army or Marines, we both fight for the same country.
