I am waiting for the second biggest real estate deal in US history from Trump. I could see us buying Alberta, BC, Yukon, and the NW Territories from Canada for cold hard gold. Hell, we could probably get the whole thing. It would have to go thru the Senate, but the house would not have anything to do with it.
Mexifornia for Alberta seems like a fair swap
They and British Columbia could secede and form their own country. It would be fantastic country on its own.
Which is why I think it would be advantageous for the red states to secede WITH the red Canadian provinces to form ONE new country.
Is British Columbia red or is it like Oregon or Washington, dominated by the leftist politics of Vancouver?
If we could get BC in the deal, that would be awesome.
Alberta?! Yes indeed!
“Lets give California back to Mexico and deal.”
Trade Canada New England for the Prairie Provinces.
Will you take California in exchange?
Exactly.
And everyone in Canada who wants to maintain dual citizenship and not have to pay high taxes for their ‘’free health care’’ pours into Alberta and then here. No thanks. And my daughter-in-law is from Calgary.
True, they have lot’s of oil. It is very expensive to extract.
They hate us too. They’re experts on us. Trust me. Biggest bunch of arrogant supercilious bastards you’d ever run across. They have no idea, not a clue as to how fortunate they are to have us on the southern border and not Mexico.
It is more expensive, but they have the costs down to about $10/barrel to extract and process. It might be able to go down lower, plus there are precious minerals and metals in the sands that can also be recovered to offset costs.
Here’s how I see it. The western provinces have more in common with the western states than they do with Ontario.
The would break off and join the US. Ontario and the territories would remain the nation of Canada. Quebec becomes French Canada and keeps the provinces that are her natural markets ... New Brunswick mostly.
Without transfer payments, the Maritimes would become unviable and either petition Quebec to take them, which Quebec lacks the wherewithal to do, or they try to join the US as states. The question would come down to whether or not the US wants territory that is not self-sustaining.
The Maritime provinces would learn to be self sustaining along the lines of Maine. They would cut themselves back to sustainable levels.
