Not any real pointed reference to housing, but there’s this from the article:
“The biggest ticket item for the U.S. Navy base in Cuba in the so-called Omnibus Spending law is $115 million for a new 848-troop barracks across the street from the McDonald’s and commissary to consolidate enlisted prison staff under one roof.”
The K-12 school is a $66 million project. Now that’s a lot of jack! I was intimately involved with new school projects over ten years ago back home in Ohio, and I don’t think the entire budget for the district was over $50 million then. This encompassed many new schools and renovations to two. But that was a while ago, and materials/logistics didn’t have an island to deal with.
Still a lot of money.
