“So that says to me that an expansion of service member numbers is in the works, including families? Is that possible or am I reading that all wrong. Was there any mention of expanded housing?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Not any real pointed reference to housing, but there’s this from the article:
“The biggest ticket item for the U.S. Navy base in Cuba in the so-called Omnibus Spending law is $115 million for a new 848-troop barracks across the street from the McDonald’s and commissary to consolidate enlisted prison staff under one roof.”
The K-12 school is a $66 million project. Now that’s a lot of jack! I was intimately involved with new school projects over ten years ago back home in Ohio, and I don’t think the entire budget for the district was over $50 million then. This encompassed many new schools and renovations to two. But that was a while ago, and materials/logistics didn’t have an island to deal with.
Still a lot of money.
:: didnt have an island to deal with. ::
Yeah, they’ll have to barge in all that cement from Miami.
I hear that CEMEX has numerous facilities in Miami.
Yes, it is. Verrry interesting.
I can't see prisoners families being there. Can't picture child prisoners.
Victims of child sex trafficking? Doesn't make sense.
DACA kids? Doubt it.
All my thoughts sound stupid. Unless barracks for families of those deployed to guard are in future plans.
My grandkids went to a High School that cost nearly $200 million dollars——it happens.
.
You’ve hit it right on the nose - everything built on Gitmo has to be floated in by barge. It’s tremendously expensive.
