Yeah. I do a lot of fast forwarding through a lot of videos, too. One topic worth usually runs about 1-3 minutes. So FF-ing through at about 2-4 min chunks usually works well for me. Sometimes I jump in 5-12 min chunks. Almost never have to go back to catch something significant that I missed.

Odd, though, that the gummint doesn’t have the bandwidth for it.
Somehow, I think some of these dreams are going to happen eventually. Maybe not exactly in the dramatic made-for-the-movies style we imagine, but close enough to be entertaining and satisfying.
Heck, I’m already seeing the DS panic. As Q says, I’m enjoying the show. But we’re barely into the opening act.

As for #3, since the earth is suspended in the vacuum of space, it wouldn't exactly "zip off", at least not very far, IMO.
Imagine a temporary imbalance and the problems that would create. Since our planet has a semi-fluid interior and a solid inner core, things could move about, more or less, independently of one another.
Some studies indicate the core spins slower than the mantle. I can see where that's very likely, due to tidal forces.
Just some interesting conjecture. I'm not trying to rewrite any current geology texts. At lest not yet...:)
