1. Who is immediately in charge? If Sessions is fired, then Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, the current No. 2 at the Justice Department, would automatically take his place -- at least, according to statute and the President's own executive order detailing the succession plan from March.

Whitaker also will assume oversight of the ongoing investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, and possible collusion by Trump’s campaign in that meddling, according to the Justice Department.
Whitaker, who has publicly criticized the Mueller investigation, by law can serve as acting AG for a maximum of 210 days.
He will have the power to fire Mueller “for cause” as outlined under rules governing the special counsel’s office, if such cause is found.

I think a conflict of interest can be reasoning for a firing
Whitaker already sworn in as acting AG. Rosenstein may be next to go.
He didn’t try to undermine or weaken, he pointed out that it was THE RUSSIA INVESTIGATION. Period. And it doesn’t matter if PDJT did request that Sessions resign (and no, that’s not firing him), SESSIONS DID RESIGN.
