Before I met my wife, I used to joke that I ended up dating women like Apple pie: sweet, warm, not too tart, and flaky. I described one — to her own assessment that it was undeniable — as “flakier than a box of instant potatoes.”

I heard it as “hot, black and sweet.” Spoken in correct dialect, the first person singular, present tense of the verb “to like” is “likes”. As in, “I likes my coffee same way I likes my women, hot, black and sweet.”
