While yours is a very sad story, know that I and others have taken to heart your lesson so as to avoid that outcome.
I have fears of that exact same scenario. Your suffering and grief were not in vain.
It was about $1200 per person for a 5 day vacation, all inclusive, including airfare.
The bride and groom stayed for free if they had 10 guests. There were 16 paying guests plus the bride and groom.
The kids only had the service (about $200) and bride’s dress (about $300) to worry about. They gave us a private room for the reception and included a cake, no extra charge.
Since everyone turned it into a vacation no one really minded the cost. All you can eat, all you can drink, for 5 days for $1200 including airfare? Such a deal!
It’s all insanity, isn’t it? We have to fight to hang on to the last remaining ounce of our sanity every day....
