It means debate can go on for 30 more hours and then there is a vote to cut off debate. If that passes, the vote can proceed immediately. If not, the debate continues. The cloture vote will be a test for who wants Kavanaugh confirmed and who doesn’t. If it doesn’t pass, he will lose. If it does pass, he will be confirmed.

Capitalism is the natural order of things. I refer you to the ancient Silk Route... Even older: Nabta Playa, southern Egypt, 9,000 BC et fol. There were lakes there in wetter times and it was a thriving center for cattle and other livestock. Much of their flocks were driven to Mesopotamia, perhaps a thousand miles away - for trade. Why go to so much trouble to travel such distances unless there was gain involved?

Moderns (post-Darwins) would say that that is outdated now, we have evolved to a higher plane of commerce. Yeah, go tell the Pilgrims at Plymouth; as usual, socialism led to massive deaths... never fails every time it is tried.
