THE true nature of Bert and Ernie's very special friendship has been a hotly-debated mystery ever since the iconic children's show first aired in 1969.

According to Wikipedia it first aired on PBS Nov 10th 1969. It included Jim and Jane Henson’s Muppets but it was not run by the Hensons. Too bad imo.

1970-1972 I attended Mead School in Bridgeport with several of the Henson children. Our families were good friends and we did parties, sleep overs, etc. Jane Henson taught art at the Mead school. She helped me create a yellow hand puppet. Ugly little thing as I recall.
