FULL TITLE: PICTURED: Female cop who shot dead neighbor after she 'mistakenly walked into his apartment thinking it was her own', as video emerges of officer crying as paramedics try to revive victim

A white policewoman who gunned down a black accountant in Texas has been identified as new video emerges of the frantic moments after the officer mistakenly entered his home thinking it was hers and opened fire.

Amber Guyger, 30, was identified as the off-duty officer who shot 26-year-old Botham Jean in an apartment block in south Dallas on Thursday night.

Instagram footage posted by a neighbor shows a female uniformed officer crying into her phone on a walkway of the apartment block. She is heard screaming 'oh God!' into the phone before she dashes away out of view.

Moments later, the victim is pulled past on a gurney as medics desperately try to revive him. Four officers follow directly behind and another runs to catch up.

Dallas police on Saturday revealed Guyger had worked for Dallas Police Department for four years on the Southeast Patrol Division.

Dallas police initially said they would seek her arrest but then handed the case over to the Texas Rangers in order for an unbiased investigation. The Texas Rangers postponed seeking a warrant for manslaughter charges, saying they needed more time to investigate information that had only recently emerged following their interview with the officer.

“the supposed white supremacy (OK sign) sign”

FWIW, I’m automatically pushing back against the idea that the OK sign - used for a LONG time with ZERO racial connotations - is a white supremacy sign. I’m more a “thumbs up” kind of guy than an “OK” kind of guy, but I’m sure someone will turn a thumbs up sign into something racist. Heck, if MILK has become part of white supremacy...

All that said, I don’t seen pulling a gun on ANYONE unless there is a serious threat of injury or death going on. And I don’t see where pulling a gun always requires pulling the trigger as well! This cop has a lot of explaining to do.

Alcohol stays in the system for up to 72 hours, so there’s that. I have never seen a cop in uniform drinking: she was apparently in uniform during the shoot.

There was a report on WBAP the following afternoon that the officer had been arrested, but that is the only report I heard.

They are re-vamped warehouse apartments. Semi-new. Dallas southside off Lamar. Trendy/hipster lofts. Used to be really crappy area of town.

It’s possible that the victim’s family would have known about the conflict, if one existed. But it’s quite plausible that they didn’t.

What may have been merely a minor annoyance to him, unworthy of comment, may have been a big deal to her.

Or he may have been the source of the conflict, but had adopted an “I don’t give a damn” attitude, which aggravated the situation for her.

Or, perhaps some element of a relationship between them caused him to decline to reveal it.

As for neighbors, that’s only apply if the conflict were broadcast or made manifest.

From what I read, she had previous contact with him. It was his apartment, not hers, and he was un armed. She was a trained LEO, so the fact that she drew and shot a un armed man at HIS apartment, not hers, suggest that it wasn’t a accident.

I’d guess if they had any type of intimate relationship, it would be very public by now. They lived in one of those pigeon holed civilian barracks or apartments as they refer to them. Not much stays confidential in places like that.

But I haven’t seen anything to suggest they had some type of relationship like that other than they were neighbors and knew each other.

“Yep, that female equality is working out great.”

Just a couple weeks ago Dallas County convinced a genuine male cop for shooting a kid.

It didn’t take long for a “newspaper” to hit us with the racial issue. I predicted it this morning. The women, who is white, shot the man, who is black. Never fails.

My wife and I made the same mistake once in our condo in Colorado. We got off the elevator at wrong floor, went to unit directly above ours and played with the key, trying for a minute until the occupant opened the door. We were quite embarrassed, the neighbor encouraged us to laugh it off and we did.

This is a sad situation on many levels.

I would guess living in one of those places it would be hard not to know your neighbors, talk to them, see them in public, the elevators etc...

So you think they had a intimate relationship and she decided to shoot him to death and say she simply got the wrong apartment as an alibi for premeditated murder?

Being a trained LEO as you mentioned, do you think she thought she could keep their secret intimate relationship secret after shooting him to death?

““A firearm in any other condition is an expensive hammer.”

If you have palsy or something that prevents racking the slide.“

No police force in the country carries their sidearms on an empty chamber nor is it a recommended practice for civilian self defense carry. It’s just a dumb practice that’ll get the carrier killed if they need to employ their firearm quickly.

On the face of it this is a case of someone that’s just an idiot and should never had been on the police force. The fact that the officer is female means that there was an affirmative action element to it. At a minimum it’s manslaughter and she shouldn’t see the outside of a prison for a long time.

The way this has been handled by the Dallas Police Department smacks of corruption. She wasn’t immediately taken into custody and charged which would have been the case with anyone other than a police officer. She should have immediately been arrested and charged. Let a judge release her on bail if it’s warranted but obviously she got special treatment because she was a cop. That needs to be squashed, the practice of kid gloves when police commit crimes is corruption and needs to be treated harshly. The cops or supervisors that made the decision not to arrest her need to lose their jobs.

Now, suppose the apartment’s occupant had shot the cop for trying to enter his apartment?

Would he get to walk the streets for two days?

The cop needs to be locked-up for the rest of her life.

...and if she wasn’t a cop, like me, would I be in jail right now?

Although it’s certainly possible, I’m not suggesting they were involved in an intimate relationship, although, if they were, and it was in its early stages, and they were trying to keep it quiet, it might not have become common knowledge yet.

Apparently they knew each other. Any emerging conflict may have not yet been generally known. The problem is, the “oh, my mistake” story, though possible, is bizarre. It may turn out to be the truth, because sometimes the truth is bizarre. A shooting based on a prior conflict makes more sense, We’ll have to wait what the investigation finds.

So many questions here!
How did she enter his home with her key?
How did she not realize that was not her home?
How do you not realize the furniture is not the same?
What is wrong with this woman that she don't realize she's not in Kansas anymore.

All of that^^^, and what is thought process that gets you to drawing and firing your weapon? When most people walk into a room they don't recognize, their first thought is usually "oops, wrong place", not draw and shoot at the first person you see. Something doesn't jive here.
