All of you laugh and joke about it now but I don’t think you will be laughing after the next presidential election or the upcoming elections for our federal and state congressmen and and senates. Excuse me! “Congress persons.” Now, that’s better isn’t it? I am one of the first “Free Republic” members who joined many, many years ago. I’ve watched this site morph from a staunch conservative site to what you people have just exhibited. It’s a shame because many of us who were members when FR started are gone and replaced by young members who didn’t go through the early wars with the liberals. After all of these years this is my last post or visit to Free Republic. It is not the same one I joined those many years ago.
I really hope you will take a deep breath and reconsider. It’s almost impossible to not throw your hands up and walk away sometimes but that’s just what the enemy wants you to do. Don’t give them the satisfaction of seeing you quit. Fight for what you believe in. There’s no other way.
FR wasn’t necessarily so hot “back in the day”.
The site was run, in part, as a GW Bush praise forum. Sad old maids used to exchange “toasters” for the most obsequious praise of Bush and his family. A good many Freepers, including some pretty smart ones (remember Sabertooth) were booted for posting against GWB’s amnesty and open-border schemes. I got the boot twice for such posts. (My first FR signup date was in 2001.)
