“The announcement that he was quitting treatment etc. was all planned.”
That was very strange..... announcing that he’s quitting treatment and dying the next day. Most of the people I hear about quitting treatment live for at least a while longer after they stop. Weeks and months usually.
I think their definition of “treatment” was life support machines - not cancer drugs or radiation. I suspect he’s just been lingering on life support for some time now. When it became obvious that everything was shutting down and death was imminent, saying “discontinuing treatment” is better optics than saying they were shutting off the machines.
Not being disrespectful, but with most cancers that are aggressive and HAVE been treated aggressively, withdrawing treatment and going on a morphine drip is medical jargon for clear your calendar for three days from now.
In cases where a treatment fails, or another tumor is found, etc. that is when they last for several weeks. This McCain scenario would have been at the end of THAT period.
In all honesty, his death process is not really anyones business, except his family. Trying to figure the timing and whether or not they were truthful is going a little too far down the rabbit hole.
