Why would Amazon consider putting a headquarters there? Excessive crime and taxes and the high cost of living in Chicago seem to me to be very good reasons not to even consider it.

As for the free money plan, I’m all for Chicago politicians making utter fools of themselves and putting the disaster on display for all to see. Btw, aren’t a lot of the poor in Chicago already getting free money, housing and EBT cards for food?

“Great idea! We can get the Gates family, the Zuckerbergs and the Obamas...all breathtakingly wealthy progressives who hate the injustice of capitalism...to personally fund it.”

I suggest the citizens of Chicago should be taxed to pay for the full cost their social experiments. End the federal matching grants and subsidies. They should experience the full consequences of continuously voting for the Chicago Democrat machine.

The nation is loaded with debt at every level of government. Had balanced budgets been required by the Constitution, government would have to raise taxes or defund existing programs in order to add new programs. Had politicians been unable to borrow, we would have much smaller government and the nation would not be $20 trillion in debt.

Just out of curiosity, what in the hell do they expect to find, giving 1000 people $500 per month? That $500 in a large city like Chicago, barely moves the register?

Do we assume these 1000 people are already working, and that $500 is in addition to whatever income they're making? How is this money taxed, if at all? What if the recipients are already receiving government aid, is this $500 in addition to that?

I just don't get it.
