Battery cost alone is ~ $7k - $12k or more depending on where you get answers from.
The battery pack was replaced twice under warranty. My guess is that the battery warranty is based on timne, not amount of usage, so a cab service is the most efficient way to use the warranty. 400,000 miles spread over ten years would also include at least two battery pack changes, and probabably not under warranty.

I think as a commercial customer they got a very good deal considering the warranty as you point out. They plan to put another 600,000 miles on it.

Battery life is also more based on time than usage. So the battery will fail no matter how many miles you drive.
