Is using magnets and copper wiring to power light bulbs a money saver?

Aside that it is neat, is it actually worth the expense over time?

Why isn’t this guy getting a Nobel Prize instead of publishing youtube videos? Because he’s cheating somehow. There’s some sort of power source under the table or something.

Light bulbs don’t use that much energy—all of our appliances do.

Worked for many years. The power line in question was either 500,000 or 1,000,000 volt. Can’t remember.

In industrial facilities where there are many power lines running parallel to each other I have seen very high voltages sometimes at 277v on a digital meter. There just isn’t much current.

A set of moving magnets under the table top would work just fine as an explanation.

Good music, at least. As to the effect, one may wonder if the bulb was tampered with to add a battery, or one may wonder why there’s a shadow of a coiled wire at the 39 second mark. Either way, nice illusion.

It is the movement not the magnet that generates electricity and that electricity is not enough to move and generate electricity simultaneously by any means.
It is basically a VERY simple Generator ... it requires input of Energy to transform that Energy into Electrical Energy.
There are MANY more efficient ways to transform motion to Electricity.

Works for AC, since AC doesn’t need a direct connection to transfer energy. Not so easy with DC, as in magnets (unless he came up with an AC magnet).

But aren’t they already mostly brain dead anyways? The 2nd best results is that their brain neurons may wake up...

Correct. The device is a fraud.

There are multiple videos out there that show that this can be done, so I thought there might be a case for it. However, I am aware that there is no free lunch and there is a cost to this. I just didn’t know what the cost would be.

What you’re describing: it’s called a generator.

It takes energy to turn it, and you’re unlikely to be able to do that more cheaply than your utility can.

"Correct. The device is a fraud."

That's exactly what the naysayers said about charging your iPhone in a microwave oven, but I can tell you for a fact that I can fully recharge my iPhone in less than 15 seconds by putting the microwave on the 'Popcorn' setting!

The device actually works, but it only appears to be free electricity. I don't know whether an electrical engineer would call it a primitive antenna, or a primitive transformer, but it is picking up energy broadcast by the house wiring wherever it is located and using that energy to produce light.

While the light is on, the electric meter is running just a little bit faster and therefore you are actually paying for that light...

Now if you can receive energy from some else's electric source, and therefore their electric meter, you can get "free" energy, paid by them.
