what you didn’t know there was a prosecutor working since Nov of 2017 and they had the power to impanel a grand jury in any state?

being ignorant of something doesn’t mean it isn’t happening....

Back in 2011, the indomitable Peter Schweizer published Throw Them All Out, a detailed examination of political corruption as it is actually practiced in the halls of Congress.

In his investigation, Schweizer found one single member of Congress against whom no allegations could be held – who had never taken a dime that was not his, had never cut any backroom deals, had never, simply put, played the game.

That individual was Jeff Sessions.

That fact is all you need to know to understand why Donald Trump selected Sessions for the Department of Justice, and why Sessions has followed the course he has in taking on the “Russia collusion” coup effort.

Sessions is the quintessential Eagle Scout. He will follow the rules down to the last subclause and will not make his move until every “t” has been crossed and every “i” dotted.

WASHINGTON, DC – Professor Jonathan Turley, a top national legal expert on government investigations, commented on Thursday about Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ decision to bring in U.S. Attorney John Huber. Turley called it “brilliant”to combine all the powers of the U.S. Department of Justice’s inspector general with a prosecutor who can bring charges, seek indictments, and get results for President Trump far more quickly than a second special counsel.

Sessions sent a letter to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-VA), House Oversight Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy (R-SC), and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA), informing them that Huber is conducting a full-fledged criminal investigation into all the matters Republicans are calling for a special counsel to investigate. Huber has been investigating these possible crimes for five months, since November 13, 2017.

During an interview on Lou Dobbs’s Fox Business Network show, Turley explained to guest host Stuart Varney that the media are wrongly reporting that Sessions will not appoint a second special counsel. “He did not foreclose the possibility of a special counsel,” he insisted.

Instead, Turley explained that Sessions has ordered Huber to “team up with the inspector general (IG) within the Justice Department to investigate these matters.”

Sessions informed Congress in his letter that all the matters recommended for investigation by Goodlatte, Gowdy, and Grassley are “fully within the scope of [Huber’s] existing mandate.” He also informed the chairmen that Inspector General Michael Horowitz, who is working with Huber, has a staff of 470 investigators, giving Huber access to enormous investigative firepower that far exceeds the staff of any special counsel.

If the inspector general finds evidence of criminal wrongdoing, he may refer it to a United States Attorney (ie HUBER) who can then convene a grand jury or take other appropriate actions...

PS TRUST SESSIONS...

If you actually read the letter appointing huber you will see that he was given 3duties. None involved investigating or prosecuting anyone. He was charged with doing an internal review of resources. And he was to make recommendations to sessions. That is NOT the way a US Atty operates.

And, noteworthy, jonathan Turley has NEVER made the mistake of repeating his mistaken notion that Huber is authorized to prosecute anyone. He obviously was straightened out by someone after making his inaccurate statement that you quoted.

Dont you believe if sessions were doing anything that Trump would have been told? Is there really anything to be gained by Trump falsely repeatedly publicly claiming that sessions is an ineffective incompetent? Do you really think that scam would fool anyone in the deep state.

Remember the old adage, “if it seems too good to be true, it probably is”.

I get it about Sessions actually facilitating good things in the background but I have always been stumped as to why he recused himself. As Senator, in his many duties, he met with Russians. So what? Any hint as to why he did it?
