If you love the Merlin sound you should come up here and visit the Bomber Command museum in Nanton, Alberta. They have a Lancaster bomber there and once a month they roll it out and fire up the four Merlins. It’s really something!

They’re also going to restore a Halifax bomber, in which more Canadians (like my Dad!) served than the Lancaster. Its Hercules engines don’t sound as great, though, alas.

That sounds awesome!

I used to live closer to a small airport in Chino, Ca with the Planes of Fame museum

I could hear the sound of a P-51s hangared there as the pilots flew overhead and went a little more inland and had fun buzzing about. The sound is so special, even different in ways from a Spitfire but still the most lovely piston engined power plant I have ever heard

I would love to see and hear a Lanc, as a young boy I remember the movie The Dam Busters and lately I have begun to search for more on the Mosquito with Twin Merlins

Awesome, thanks!
