You are correct! A friend of mine was swatted over politics in a small, leftwing NJ town. He has never recovered from that event. The police had nothing more to go on than a call from a pay phone that “a dead body was in the man’s house” and yet within minutes, they were on the roof, at the front and back door with guns drawn.
And that is why I believe Every Elected Official, Judge and Police Officer should be SWATTED REGULARLY. When they suffer the consequences of their own Actions, it will change.
I think you’re mistakenly applying legal principles to a situation where any civilized society would recognize exceptions to them in extreme cases. Anyone facing a situation like that is always going to act in favor of protecting a human life in jeoopardy even if there is a high degree of uncertainty about it. Firefighters, for example, frequently put their lives at risk to enter a burning house even when there is no evidence that anyone is at home.
