A pit bull-bulldog mix... attacked its own family of four Monday, sending three people to the hospital to be treated for their wounds.
One adult and two teens, ages 16 and 13, were taken to the hospital to be treated
...
Family identified the animal to police as a pit bull. Animal control called it a pit bull-American bulldog mix.
...
Another adult in the home also was attacked, but was not taken to a hospital, he said. The dog is now in the custody of the St. Louis County Health Department...
Florissant had an ordinance banning pit bulls, but the City Council voted last year to end the ban.

“Its own family “
And what if the dog didn’t think so?
And you sound like a ‘mooselimb’ crying about how peaceful your religion is.
Yep. I know one that’s friendly and another pit/lab mix that is high energy but friendly. But I’ve seen several that are bad and a couple attacked my lab puppy. I now have my ccw. If that happened again, I’d shoot the pit bull.
“Please show me 1 story for each pitbull story about a driving death and I will concede.”
George76 & Norski obviously care about the proliferation of pitbull attacks, so they post relevant articles.
If you care so much about child victims of distracted drivers, why aren’t YOU posting relevant articles? Are you waiting for someone else to post said articles for you?
Oh, and...”Yes, and guns are also dangerous and should be banned, just like pitbulls.”
You realize there’s a difference between an AR15 resting on the ground and a pitbull resting on the ground? One will jump up all by itself and kill you...the other won’t.
Clearly some here are incapable of detecting sarcasm without a sarc tag...
Yeah, I’ll quit my job, spend all my time posting a dozens of articles a day about distracted driving wrecks and the lives ruined and berate others for their opinions which differ from my own.
Yep: FR is the place to be to make a difference. Frankly, I really wish I had the option to filter out such BS from my feed, but it is what it is. I’m here for Conservative values and abhor viewing reactionary BS which echoes that of the left. A little reflection is in order.
From my perspective, all you emotionally-reactive pit-haters are no different than the emotionally-reactive gun haters. It’s just a “bit” of a hypocrisy if you’re not doing something more than just ripping me for my opinion. Unlike many others, I understand that animals are...”animals.” Unfortunately, many people are equally as incapable of responsibly owning a firearm as a dog.
Your attempt to dispute my analogy is for naught. Pit-haters seek to ban & exterminate the breed. Your logic is equally-applicable to exterminating humans.
The logic is sound comparing dog owners with weapons owners...vs. your straw man. Nice try. The same could be said of a bear.
Those are basically "per capita" figures.
Stick that in your pipe and smoke it, all you pit-haters...
And look at Malamutes!
My Husky Duchess was the most gentle animals (toward humans) I've ever owned—and fast as lighting, too. She killed at least four cats in our back yard, however, because they misjudged her speed.
She never barked, as far as I can remember. She would howl like a wolf, basically, when we would rile her up...
But that doesn't mean I'm going to tell someone else they can't own one.
Why? Because I'm not a G-d d-mn Leftist, that's why...
Because I'm not a G-d d-mn authoritarian, that's why...
Stopped reading at “Clearly some here are incapable of detecting sarcasm without a sarc tag...”
Exactly. Thanks for the support against histrionics which mirror those quacking the anti-gun narrative.
Good point. Just to be clear, you’re preaching to the choir, so-to-speak.
But history being a guideline, most here stopped reading your comment after the 1st sentence./S
If you read my comments here and in prior posts on pits, my position is clear: Target breeders & owners, not the breed and, of-late, stop sounding like lefties arguing a gun-ban position.
Any animal can attack and all statistics are malleable. Having an emotional reaction to any tragic event is never productive and, from my perspective here, demeans a good cause. Banning pits is no different than banning AR15s in my book, both of which can be wielded as weapons OR for fun.
There is no constitutional protection of select canine breed ownership. I checked. Twice.
Owning guns? Protected. See Amendment no. 2.
They are no different than an invasive species and we see how government tries to get rid of invasive species.
