I was being sarcastic about the Russians. Many of them learn survival skills at a young age and they are smart enough and ambitious enough to excel. Sitting in a grass hut worrying about what tribe will try to kill you next is not their idea of living.

Be interesting to plot GDP per capita vs IQ. Classroom test taking smart doesn’t equal productive.

No one takes a foreign-sponsored IQ,( or any other test) without the government taking a long, hard look at it, and choosing exactly under what conditions the test will be administered, and to whom.

And then dwell on the fact that an IQ of 130 is to an IQ of 100 what an IQ of 100 is to an IQ of 70.
The situation is worse, really, for the guy with IQ 130, because the huge majority of people are in that “middle” range, which to him is the idiot category.
Fetal Alcohol exposure does not necessarily correlate to IQ deficiencies. Even when associated with marked cognitive and emotional issues, many children with fetal alcohol score in a normal range. Take your “below average” quadrant and increase by 20%—for heavy-drinking cultures, maybe 40%...
Work ethic, morals and and freedom can make the ordinary great.
