Ghost Guns: Untraceable firearms in hands of hobbyists, felons and children

The US Gun Control Act of 1968 allows for the assembly of parts leading to the construction of an unregistered weapon. ATF guidelines state that as long as gun parts are not more than 80 percent completed into a working firearm, then they are not legally considered a gun. That allows for retailers to sell nearly complete parts, with easy-to-follow instructions to finish the remaining 20 percent needed to bring the gun parts into a firing condition. Most online retailers ship across state lines using standard delivery companies. A complete Glock 19 kit is among the simplest kits to assemble, costing just more than $600, a few hundred dollars more than a store-bought Glock 19.

Make them prove this is an actual problem.

They cannot.

How many children have $600 to spend on gun kits?

And where do they get the bullets to make it go bang or go to practice using it?

And how many are capable of doing the machining necessary to complete the project?

Don’t need to know machining. 80% glock lowers come with a drill jig and all you need is a Dremel to remove extra material. Buy a slide, and other parts, you are good to go. I know because the company I work for is all about those parts.

You have to have a Upper/lower receiver to complete the process. They are legally a firearm and have serial numbers. You would need skill and machinery to complete that receiver if you were building from scratch.

Some places have you push the button to start the machine to finish the part.

These propagandists pretending to be journalists don’t have clue what they are talking about. Assemblying a Glock or AR is beginner’s work for any welder, metalsmith, or gunsmith. We need to encourage more Americans to work with their hands and build things again.

I just ran my 6th annual AK build party last Saturday. It was a great time for everyone. No rifles just jumped up and went on a rampage either.

Glockstore sells the Polymer80 kits that are easy to finish. But like the article says, you'll end up spending $100 or so more than if you just buy a Glock.

And don't think that there is no paper trail. A few years back there was a company selling 80% Polymer AR lowers that had a different color plastic molded into the lower to show what to whittle out.

The ATF decided that because they molded in two steps, one of those steps exceeded the 80% threshold and was a firearm. The company had to turn over all of their sales records, and all of the dealers also turned over their sales records, and owners had to surrender their lowers.

the construction of an unregistered weapon.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In free states there is not supposed to be any registration......
..........unless they’ve been lying to us.
What they are is not serial numbered.
Only the lower has a serial number on an AR.
That is the firearm according to the ATF.
The 80% kit is a lower.
Not as easy to build as an AK, but not that difficult.
My young one is pretty good. He can program the G-code to get what he wants out of the machine. Knows his tool paths, angles of entry and attacks, chip load, cutter compensation, spindle load and all that. If he’s had sufficient coffee. :)
The governing classes do not need to prove anything to you.
They consider you as livestock, to be milked, fleeced, or slaughtered for their convenience.
They do not want you to event think of resisting predators, because they are the biggest predators around.
Of course they don't want you to have "Ghost Guns" - or any other type of weapon.
Their problem statements are meant as a distraction to delay opposition. The details mean nothing at all.
Much ado about nothing.
Do these liberal cretins actually think a dumb ass thug is gonna go out and buy this kit and take the time to build a gun?
No...the dumb ass thug is going to steal an assembled gun...and he don't care about a damned serial number.
Now, would some enterprising entrepreneurial dumb ass thug have the bright idea of purchasing a bunch of these kits, building the gun and selling them to his fellow dumb ass thugs?
Possibly...but again, we're talking about dumb ass thugs, who think that the pinnacle of mental achievement is knowing the difference between red and blue neckerchiefs and remembering which customers owe them what for the particular drug they sold them.
So say you, stupid liberal, that we should just pass a law against such things?
Uh...we're talking about dumb ass thugs here...they don't care about a law...of any kind.
Liberals are so stupid.
Ghost gun. One of the biggest mistakes society makes is accepting these made up terms or allowing libtards to change the definition of things.
big deal. You can 3D print all but a few parts like the barrel and slide for lots of guns. There’s no trace on that either.
This is why it makes no sense to buy an 80% lower unless for cash with no paper trail.
