I liked the first Star Wars flicks. I knew Lucas is a typical Hollywood lib, but I never realized the pro VC angle. I feel duped. >:(
Mostly true but only if you pay to watch their shows or movies. There are ways around paying for it and you can always pay to see it if it's someone you want to support. No need to feed the monsters.

The fact that The Last Jedi scored 91% on Rotten Tomatoes with professional (read: leftist) film critics but only 47% with audiences should have been a clue that the shark has jumped for Star Wars.
When Rian Johnson had Luke Skywalker non-chalantly toss his light sabre over his shoulder into the ocean in the **very first scene** is when I had realized that Johnson was giving a big FU to the franchise. Small wonder that Mark Hamill had griped about the film to the point Disney had to muzzle him.
What amazes me is that Disney let Rian Johnson wreck the franchise so thoroughly that there is nothing left going forward, where Kylo and General Hux are so laughable as antagonists that it leaves JJ Abrams screwed for the third film.

Don’t feel so duped. Lucas had shockingly little to do with Star Wars, and will say anything at any time. Star Wars was largely written by his wife, who also edited it.

I’d say “Congratulations, Disney, on destroying another franchise” but they destroyed Star Wars with “The Last Jedi.”
After seeing the first movie, in the first week of its release, as a teenager, with my dad, I am done with Star Wars.
So sad.

There are whole portions of the movie which have no reason for being there.
The Star Destroyer chase is unbelievably stupid and it goes on forever.

And BTW, Lucas trying to push a pro-Vietcong/anti-Vietnam War narrative in the franchise from the start, manipulating countless Americans in his commie goals, is PRECISELY the reason why I made an exception and am rooting for the bad guys in Star Wars now (and even there, only the Empire. The Trade Federation at least was closer to crony capitalism than true capitalism, so I can still root against them, and the First Order, unlike the Empire was directly based on the Nazis, or at least ODESSA.).
That’s why I root for the Empire now. Used to root for the Rebels, but after Lucas confirmed they were meant to be VC, I simply could not root for them anymore knowing what they’re like. And what’s worse is that he tricked scores of Americans with this.
And I don’t normally root for villains and if anything either root for the heroes or not bother rooting for anyone at all, so if I’m rooting for the actual villains, you know the writers crossed a very big line with me.
Unfortunately, you’re right about George Lucas and Star Wars (especially the whole anti-American angle, which unlike, say, his claim that Vader was always meant to be Luke’s father or his claim that Greedo had always shot first, this bit actually IS backed up by his 1973 development notes. Hence why I’m rooting for the Empire. No one tricks me into rooting for communists and gets away with it), and as early as ROTJ he started giving hints that he does not actually believe in true good and evil (Obi-Wan Kenobi pretty much stated to Luke that truth basically depended on a point of view when Luke confronted him about his lying about Vader, and that’s not even getting into his infamous “Only a Sith Deals in Absolutes” retort in Revenge of the Sith. It’s funny, even though the Sith were supposed to be evil, they actually came far closer to actually HAVING moral absolutes than the actual heroes.).
I won’t say that we should give up on Hollywood, though, as believe it or not, there’s still some people there who are willing to promote American values, especially those of their customers, instead of trying to interject left-wing messages. There’s American Sniper, for one.
