Steven Seagal Movies...
Vanity

Posted on 05/16/2018 7:45:38 PM PDT by ExpatCanuck

Had some time to kill before going to bed. Watched a Steven Seagal movie on Netflix. I can’t even remember the name. Say what you want about his acting skills (love the graphic of him showing different emotions - and it’s all the same picture, and he plays the same character in every movie) but he’s a financial genius. He puts out one really bad movie a year that goes straight to DVD and/or Netflix and makes him 10 million bucks, then he sits on the porch of his mansion with his beautiful wife thinking about the next movie. You have to respect that.

He must spend a small fortune on black shoe polish.

His early movies were well-written. Implausible, but fast-paced. Not any more.

I guess not one person with any power ever tried to fix it...it makes me think he must have been an Olympic class sprinter or something. Too fast to try to make him actually look good because he could just point out how fast he was running like that? How could anyone be incapable of running right if their job depended on at least making it look unremarkable?

We may never know the answers to these vital questions.

FIRE DOWN BELOW is a fave. I like the way he kicks butts and takes names.

“MeToo crowd”

My son brought up an humorous irony tonight. He said it’s #MeToo, which can be legitimately translated to “Pound me too”.

Seagal has always been an enigma to me. I loved his first few pure action flicks, but then felt like he sucker punched me himself with the enviro-disaster On Deadly Ground. Last movie I saw him in, Executive Decision, I was shocked that he not only died but died 3rd of the way through. I think every movie after that was straight to video.

Comedian Tom Segura does one of my favorite bits of all time talking about him. On YouTube if you haven’t heard it.

Bonus funny, seeing him in Anderson Silva’s corner during an MMA fight and him taking credit for teaching Silva the front kick that dumped Vitor Belfort. Devastating kick.

Ask Judo Gene Labell what he thinks of Seagal. I was having cocktails with one of the old time big three famous martial artists ... Though I won’t say which one ... And asked him what he thought of Seagal... He said and I quote “he’s an a$$hole”

#48 he did not die. Just before he hit the ground he did a somersault and landed lightly on his feet.

I actually enjoyed Seagal movies. Loved watching slap thugs around.
Always interesting and it’s good knowing he’s one of the good guys.

The way the Left attacks him makes me automatically want to support him too.

I found out he was police officer in Louisiana. Another reason he has my full support.

Oh and the drama about the ex’s. That’s a bunch of crap.

Never liked him. He married into an Aikido dojo for free lessons and then divorced her as soon as Hollywood came calling.

“He married into an Aikido dojo for free lessons and then divorced her as soon as Hollywood came calling.”

I’m sure he married her for more than just free Aikido lessons (wink, wink) and divorced her for more than...

Otherwise, thanks guys for the hilarious thread, especially about his short legs.

You’re right!

I have enjoyed the entertainment value of all of his movies, and have watched several many times late at night.

Similar entertainment value from spaghetti westerns with Clint Eastwood and Terrence Hill (the Trinity series).

Used his first wife’s family to get the skill then dumped her.

I watched a show about him years ago on Bio and he went to Japan and Asia to learn his skills when he was still a teenager.
