Pitties are strange. Another neighbor had a pittie that started sniffing at my grocery bags. I said “No, that’s not doggie food, that’s people food” in a tone like I was talking to a little child, not yelling. The dog quickly backed off, with the look like he did something wrong. A little scratch behind the ears let him know it was OK. Yet another neighbor’s pit was aggressive.
The literal translation of dachshund is “badger dog.”
Queue the retarded pit bull haters (AKA muslims, perverts and pussies and assorted combinations thereof) to dispute that these were anything other than staffies.
They are brave way beyond their size. My now elderly female when young guarded the yard like four-legged Valkyrie. She chased a fox out of the yard. Personality wise she was and still is a love puppy. Lives for belly rubs, ear rubs, treats and now long snoozes on the couch. Don’t sit in her spot on the couch, she will let you know you violated house protocol. On my dachshunds have been sweethearts with family, neighbors and visitors.

I have an adopted shelter mutt. You can tell from looking at her down the nose and chest she’s got a good bit of pit in her.
I have never known a gentler, more kind natured dog. If you raise your voice to her she’ll put her tail between her legs and slink away. When you approach her she lies down and rolls over, feet raised, for a belly rub. When you walk her she’ll let every child in the neighborhood pet her and play with her ears.
But for all I know she had a brother whose a stone-cold killer.

I believe that people are missing the point regarding the breeds of dogs that were involved. A woman died. The dogs appear to me to be a pit bull and 4 pit-bull mix puppies. Who knows what the female was. She looked to me like an Australian Shepherd mixed with something with short legs. It was tragic.
