CARTER COUNTY, Okla. -- Officials said a woman was attacked and killed by a neighbor's dogs on Thursday night.
Carter County Sheriff Chris Bryant said the victim -- whose name has not yet been released -- was attacked by seven dogs and later died from her injuries.
Bryant said the incident happened before 10 p.m. at a residence just east of Ardmore on Banyon Road. He said one of the dogs was a pit bull; the others were medium-sized dogs of other breeds, all with the same owner.
"Once we were notified that this female had succumbed to her injuries, the owner of the dogs decided to put the dogs down," Sheriff Bryant said.
There have been no arrests. Bryant said he believes the victim lived in the area of the attack.
"It's really scary because my kids play out here all the time," one neighbor told KTEN. "Even if I'm out here with them, it's just scary having dogs roaming around attacking people."
There is no "leash law" in unincorporated areas of Carter County.
"Most municipalities do, but the county does not," Sheriff Bryant said. "Just be aware your your surroundings and if you have any issues with livestock or animals or anything like that, please give us a call."

KXII reports that arriving officers shot and killed one of the dogs that charged them. The animals belonged to one of the victim's neighbors. "Anytime you go to a dog bite call or a dog is attacking people in general, it is disturbing," Bryant said. "Our prayers are with the family of the victim, and the rest of the community because this is a very unfortunate situation." Authorities are still investigating the fatal pack attack. There is no leash law in unincorporated parts of Carter County.
Photos of the seven deceased dogs released from the Ardmore Animal Shelter show one pit bull, five dachshund-(pit bull) terrier mixes and a longhaired mixed breed, which Shelter Co-director Tena Layton previously said could be the mother of the younger dogs. Authorities have not identified the dogs' owner or the victim. Sheriff Chris Bryant said that autopsy results will be forwarded to the district attorney's . . .

Dreadful. RIP.
Why do you post so many articles about pit bulls?
Why do you want to know?
Found it.
“Whenever I’m asked why Southern writers particularly have a penchant for writing about freaks, I say it is because we are still able to recognize one.”Flannery O’Connor
Thank you, Governor.
I like that look a lot more on a Pit Bull than the one I witnessed the 2 times Pits tried to attack my Jack Russell.
You appear to have an obsession with this particular breed.
It has been 46 days since the last fatality by pit bull in the USA. Statistically, over the last year or so, deaths average one every 13 days.
I find it odd not to release the name of the victim. It has been over 48 hours since here death. I believe that an autopsy is scheduled.
Seven dogs, not valued enough to be properly leashed, kenneled, supervised or trained. Seven dogs allowed to form their own pack. All with some level of pit bull genetics.
Was the owner protecting marijuana plants or perhaps a meth lab? Who needs seven savage like dogs , most of unremarkable heritage? We may never know. Since all the animals were quickly put down, and the poor woman is deceased, the owner will get a low level of public scrutiny.
Rest in peace, my sister in Christ.
“. . . The concluding section discusses “form follows function.” For example, it is by no mistake that dogs selected for “killing” (the pit bull, dogo Argentino and others) are characterized by exaggerated jaw muscles and the willingness to attack in the absence of species-specific signs. Additionally, the environments for which these behaviors were selected (the fighting pit and escaping slave) are so extreme that there is no appropriate context for them in normal life.
“Its also not realistic to pretend that impulsive aggression is not pathological. The environments (the fighting pit, the baited bull, the escaping slave) for which these behaviors were selected as an adaptive response are so extreme that in fact there is no appropriate context for these behaviors in normal life.” “- Semyonova

7 dogs with an aggressive alpha is a feral pack. Unlike wolves who have a natural fear of man, dogs have none.
The owners need to be put down too for murder

Yes. Cecile Short, 82 years old and her little dog, 2017, and the two loose pit bulls basically decapitated her. They dragged her all over the road by her neck. The EMTs could not get near her. Police officers killed on dog with their car, I think. There was blood all over the street. There are pictures of the dogs at the link.
I don’t recognize this name as attached to this story.
There is a great deal of information at this website. It is worth bookmarking and researching.

This subject and its horror is like an onion - it just keeps expanding.
I am trying to find a way to stop the deaths and maulings. I do not know if it is possible. So many persons, pets, and livestock are being mauled and killed. It is one of the worst ways to die, aside from being burned alive. If you have any suggestions or solutions, please speak out. There is something very strange about it all. I understand there are huge amounts of money involved and to be made from these dogs, but there appears to be something more.
